The Sully family will be the main focus of the upcoming Avatar: The Way of Water. More information has come out about siblings’ and parents’ relationships. In this post, we thought we’d go a little deeper into it.

Now, a lot of the information we’ve already referenced previously. So, if you think you’ve heard the information before, odds are you have.

So, let’s begin with Kiri, given she is the oldest of the five Sully siblings.

Kiri – The Eldest Sully Sibling

Kiri is Jake and Neytiri’s eldest child and adoptive daughter. Raised from a young age, it appears it has never been a secret that Kiri is adopted. However, according to an interview on The Direct with actress Sigourney Weaver, Kiri is not like her adoptive parents. She is not a warrior and sees herself as clumsy. Kiri also appears to feel inadequate to her mother, who is incredibly poised.

The teenager also has a close relationship with Jake because of his connection to her biological mother, Grace Augustine. Kiri also wishes to be more like her adoptive human brother Miles “Spider” Socorro. She also talks to Jake more than Neytiri, though it is clear that Kiri loves her adoptive mother a lot.

It is also stated in the interview that Kiri is envious of her youngest Na’vi brother, Lo’ak because he spends a lot of time with Spider. Kiri has a great fondness for Spider (as seen in the comics) and wishes she got to spend more time with him. She affectionately dubs him “Monkey Boy.” It’s unclear what kind of relationship Kiri has with Neteyam.

Trinity Bliss, who plays Tuktirey “Tuk” (the youngest Sully) in the film, said in the same interview that Tuk adores Kiri and thinks everything she does is incredible.

Sigourney also says that everyone loves Tuk and Kiri usually has to watch over her.

Miles “Spider” Socorro is Jake and Neytiri’s adoptive son and second-eldest of the Sully siblings.

As we’ve mentioned before, Kiri and Spider are close. Spider is also close to his youngest Na’vi brother, Lo’ak, which pushes Kiri’s buttons. It is unclear what his relationship is like with Jake other than he addresses him as “Mr Sully” and Neytiri as “Mrs Sully” due to his strained relationship with her.

Neteyam – The Eldest Biological Sully Sibling

The eldest of Jake and Neytiri’s biological children, Neteyam, is their firstborn son. Neteyam is the protective big brother who loves his little sister, Tuk, a great deal. But, according to Trinity in the interview above, Neteyam doesn’t pick on Tuk as much as Lo’ak does.

Tuk greatly respects Neteyam, yet it is unknown what kind of relationship he has with Kiri, Spider, or Lo’ak. Little Tuk also sees Neteyam as a second paternal figure as he acts more like their dad than her big brother. It’s unclear what type of relationship he has with his parents. Though, given the picture of the Sully family after Tuk was born, it can be assumed they’re close.

Lo’ak

The secondborn son and child of Jake and Neytiri, Lo’ak is described by Trinity Bliss (linked interview above) as the cooler older brother who enjoys picking on his younger sister. Sigourney Weaver mentions Lo’ak as a bit of a sibling hog when it comes to Spider.

It is unclear what relationship he has with Neteyam, Kiri and their parents.

The youngest of Jake and Neytiri’s children and the youngest overall, Tuk is loved by all her older siblings. While her relationship with Spider is currently unknown, she has a close bond with her elder sister, Kiri, and older brothers, Neteyam and Lo’ak.

While Neteyam doesn’t throw her under the Ikran, Lo’ak will and refuses to take her anywhere with him. Tuk idolises Kiri like any little sister would her big sister.

Finally, Tuk loves her parents and will often snuggle up to them. She usually flies with her mother as she is too young to do so on her own, and her father often carries her.
