Stargirl Cancelled

Cindy, cancel

It’s the last thing we wanted to hear, but our worst fears have been realised. The CW and Nexstar have chosen to cancel Stargirl, despite the best efforts of fans to show the network that they wanted Season 4. We knew this would be the outcome, but there was a small amount of hope.

The fans are understandably gutted by the decision, but it was not unexpected, given the changes going on at The CW. DC YouTuber Pagey expressed a similar view in his video about the subject. He also brings in statements from Geoff Johns and Brec Bassinger, so be sure to check it out. The network in the last six months have culled 13 shows with The Flash and Riverdale ending their runs. Only a handful of shows remain including newer additions; The Winchesters and Walker: Independence. However, even they are not safe from the cull.

Since the decision to cancel Stargirl came out, fans have wondered what will happen with Superman & Lois. In all honesty, we believe the show will not receive the axe, despite rumours. The CW of just a few years ago is gone. Pagey even mentioned in his video that in a few more years, the network will not even resemble what we know.

Before we wrap this post up, we do have to stress there is a ton more stuff that has come out in the past few hours from people tied to the show. We’re not going to include them as it is basically the same thing that Geoff and Brec have said. One final thing is that it has been questioned whether the show will be shopped to other networks.

Could Stargirl Be Saved By Another Network?

Shawn McBee, the host of the Stargirl Aftershow podcast and who worked on the show said, he didn’t know. However, it is unlikely that they haven’t already. The CW is losing a ton of viewers of its actions and we do not feel for it. If they want to be profitable, they need to stop thinking about profits and cheap programming and consider what viewers want. They won’t want constant reality television and game shows. They want character driven stories they can invest in. Stargirl had that and more.
