According to the official Paramount website, Ghosts Australia will focus on a young unmarried couple named Kate and Sean.
Kate inherits Ramshead Manor, likely in a similar fashion Alison and Sam do in the UK and US shows, respectively. While she is optimistic, Sean is loveable, yet uncertain and doesn’t want to give up on city life. After an accident, she can see and communicate with well, ghosts.
The six ghosts that haunt Ramshead Manor have existed for some part of 200 years. Could there be a convict from the days of Captain Cook? A wayward politician who lost his pants or shirt? A criminal from the criminal underworld? Anything is possible, but unlike the other iterations of Ghosts, the Australian version will be somewhat limited in regards to its historical aspects.
Australia has only existed with its current name since 1824. That’s exactly 200 years. The UK and the US have existed much longer, hence why their characters’ origins stem back further. Hmm. That makes us wonder if they’ll refer to Australia’s original name New Holland.
What We Know About Ghosts Australia So Far(ish)
There isn’t much information on Ghosts Australia currently. We can only speculate on what ghosts will haunt Ramshead Manor. However, the description alone implies the series will keep to the comedy of the UK and US shows while adding an Aussie flair. Though they’ll change a few things.
Ghosts UK series had 6 episodes per season.
Meanwhile, the Ghosts US episode count varies. Season 3 was cut to 10 due to the SAG-AFTA strikes.
Ghosts Australia has taken a leaf out of CSI: Sydney’s book and will have at least 8 episodes for Season 1.
A large change is that Kate and Sean are in a new relationship. In the other versions, both couples [Alison and Mike and Sam and Jay, respectively] are married.
There is no cast attached so far, there is also no known shooting location. However, it was revealed by TV Tonight that BBC Studios Australia will be producing the series.
Expect us to issue updates once we know more.
