Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles

Who Is April O’Neil In The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Media?

April, Ninja Turtles

April O’Neil has always played a role in the Ninja Turtles franchise. Every version of the character has shared a close bond with the turtles. She has served as a mentor, friend, sister figure, and mother figure towards them, often giving them advice and helping them wherever she can.

Over the years, she has served as a one-sided love interest of Donatello and Michelangelo in two separate Ninja Turtles media—Donnie in the 2012 series and Mikey in the 2014 film. Moreover, the relationship between April and Leonardo in TMNT (2007) is left ambiguous as there is a scene at the beginning of the film that is seen as flirtatious to a degree but is never explained.

Depending on the medium, April has been involved romantically with fellow Ninja Turtles ally Casey Jones. In the 2003 series finale, she marries him. They are also married in some versions of the comics, including the beloved mini-series, The Last Ronin, where they have a daughter together, Casey Marie. She has also been in several occupations, including lab assistant and journalist, her most recognised career.

April has also taken up some form of ninja training. In the 2007 film, she is well-trained in sword combat. Meanwhile, in the 2012 series, she becomes a female ninja in training.

One of the most exciting parts of April’s history is the various introductions she has had when she met the Ninja Turtles. Several times, she passed out upon their first meeting. In the 2017 series, April has grown up with them and considers them her brothers.
