It’s the final fight with the Ultra-Humanite and the Mahkents versus the J.S.A. Before this, we learn that nine months previously, Jordan (after he was resurrected) and Dragon King (who didn’t die after being stabbed by Cindy) dug up Sylvester’s body and revived him. They then removed his brain and inserted the Ultra-Humanite’s brain. Dragon King’s brain was later put into the Albino Gorilla’s body. Finally, Sylvester’s brain was put in a jar like those brain pods in the old Buzz Lightyear of Star Command cartoon show.

Moreover, Courtney, Yolanda, Rick, Beth and Barbara realise that “Sylvester” was trying to distract them. Courtney then questions why Cosmo no longer worked for her. Her mother tells her it was because she let Ultra-Humanite (Sylvester) think he could wield it.

However, it’s not exactly an even fight when the J.S.A. arrives at the destination of Jordan’s choosing. With Cameron being manipulated by his father, he is forced to lie to Courtney during a phone call, which lures her and the team to Zeek’s junkyard.

Sofus And Beth Don’t Want To Fight

Beth comes across Sofus, Jordan’s father, who doesn’t want to fight. The goggles go into combat, and they sense Grandpa Icicle’s hesitation. Before Doctor Mid-Nite and Sofus can even think of teaming up, Lily, Sofus’ wife, appears and orders him to kill Beth. When he refuses, she goes to kill him herself, only for Yolanda to come in, and a car falls from an overhead rack and crushes Lily, like the Wicked Witch that got crushed by Dorothy’s house in The Wizard of Oz.

Jordan attempts to kill Courtney after she refuses to join him, prompting Cameron to jump in, only for his father to threaten him, revealing his true colours to his son. Rick then dives into the fight to save Courtney, tells Cameron not to be an asshole, and says he will kick his ass.

Elsewhere, Cindy, Mike and Jakeem are being chased by Dragon King, whose brain resides (as mentioned) in the albino gorilla. The villain grabs his daughter and tries to rip her apart while she is trying to protect the boys. However, Jakeem conquers a wish that accidentally turns the gorilla into a stuffed toy. This, in all honesty, is funnier than Thunderbolt turning Eclipso into toast last season.

Ultra-Humanite And Pat Duke It Out

Ultra-Humanite and Pat fight it out. It is revealed that Pat dug himself out of the hole he was buried in at the end of the last episode. This is also the first time Cameron has seen S.T.R.I.P.E.

Cameron attacks his father. Courtney jumps in to help him after hearing Jordan threaten to do what Brainwave did to Henry. Cameron then incapacitates Icicle, which devastates him. After the fight dies, Cameron tells Courtney she can’t help him and leaves with his grandfather.

At the Chapel house, Rick apologises for the way he spoke to them. Bridget and James humbly accept his apology. Beth also apologises to her parents for pushing them away when she needed them. She then begrudgingly agrees to take them on as her sidekicks. James becomes Nite-Lite, and Bridget becomes Hootie in honour of Doctor McNider’s owl.

Reunions

Pat and Barbara take Mike to meet his birth mother, Maggie, at Richie’s. They have a small moment together, but Mike returns to the car a short time later, preferring his life the way it is with Barbara as his mother.

Courtney tracks down Becky Sharpe and gives her the letter that The Gambler had written for her before he was murdered.

Sometime later, the J.S.A. gathers for dinner at the Whitmore-Dugan home, where Buddy the bulldog runs around the house with the plush toy that used to be Dragon King and tears his arm off, which to the amusement of Cindy. Yolanda rings her mother and says she has said that the truth has bought her friends closer to their families. She hopes she can do the same with her own family.

Camney Once More? And Artemis Gets Revenge

Courtney is the only one not present at the J.S.A. dinner. Instead, she stops outside the Mahkent house, now sitting dominant. It snows, leading her to turn around to find Cameron wanting her help. Without a word, she runs to hug him, leaving the status of their relationship ambiguous.

Three months after the defeat of the Ultra-Humanite, Jordan is now residing in Copenhagen, Denmark. He is lured into a trap by Artemis, who then avenges her parents’ deaths by burning Icicle to death, making his demise permanent this time. It’s poetic justice for what he did to Larry and Paula, freezing them to death and shattering their bodies.

A Decade On From The Battle With The Ultra-Humanite

A decade passes, and the J.S.A. headquarters in Civic City is now a museum run by The Shade. He reveals that the J.S.A. got bigger after the defeat of the Ultra-Humanite. The team merged with Young All-Stars.

Jakeem became known as Jakeem Thunder. Mike became S.T.R.I.P.E. 2.0, replacing his father, upon Pat’s retirement. Finally, Cindy retired her codename Shiv and became Dragon Queen.

Courtney outgrew her moniker of Stargirl and became Starwoman, a nod to her half-sister, Patricia Dugan, in the comics. Rick and Beth are revealed to be engaged.

Artemis eventually got her wish and became a J.S.A. member, becoming Artemis. Cameron also joined the J.S.A. taking his father’s mantle as Icicle but using it as a positive, as Winn Schott did in Supergirl.

Grundy also joined the team upon his resurrection. Sylvester was eventually revived after his brain was found. Jennie and Todd joined the J.S.A., becoming Jade and Obsidian, respectively. Other members included Sand (likely Sandy Hawkins, nephew of Wesley Dodds/Sandman) and Damage. The Seer Soldiers of Victory were also bought together again.

Finally, it is also revealed that Jay Garrick is living, confirming that he is the same version of the character that appears in the Arrowverse’s The Flash. He rushes in and accidentally destroys the J.S.A. table, which Dickie shrugs at as if it has happened before. It’s also bought up in this tiny bit of dialogue that Courtney still leads the team.

Farewell, Little Star

This three-year journey of following Courtney’s adventures (and the path that lead us to Camney) has been incredible. And the show shall be missed. The C.W. ought to be ashamed that it listened to Nexstar. Fans are now jumping ship from the network because it has axed so many beloved shows to appear profitable.

We shall be back with one last Stargirl article when the Stargirl/Titans crossover airs in early 2023.
