As Stargirl reaches the end of its run, we finally get clarification on what is going on with Ultra-Humanite, Jordan Mahkent and Sylvester Pemberton. Spoiler alert! It’s not what we thought it was going to be. So, before we dive into this post, we do want to touch on Rick’s addiction to his hourglass and Cameron’s worry over not Courtney not texting him.

Rick realises that his hourglass is causing addiction, and he goes to the Whitmore-Dugan house for help, knowing Courtney, Beth and Yolanda are there. At the beginning of the episode, we see him trying to pull free of the power, but it messes with him. Moreover, this ends up being a vital plot point later in the episode as it tries to Sylvester.

Moving over to Cameron, he appears once in the episode, talking to his father about Courtney not texting him. Jordan tells him she’s probably dealing with the Ultra-Humanite situation. It is even suggested that to prove Jordan is now good that he capture the Ultra-Humanite. Given that it is only one scene, it’s hard to tell whether Cameron buys into his dad’s spiel. Though it’s possible, at the back of his mind, he knows that something is off.

Sylvester Goes Of The Deep End For A Huge Reason

Sylvester is revealed to be the season’s main villain, but not in the way you think. As it turns out, he is dead, and that Ultra-Humanite is using his body. Furthermore, it’s mentioned that Doctor McNider was right when he said that the Cosmic energy from his exposure to Cosmo is why his body was preserved.

The JSA pieces together that Sylvester was well-aware of what removing the limiter from the hourglass would do to Rick. Beth mentions that Rex went through a similar situation and the Golden Age JSA helped him through it.

It’s also realised that Sylvester is why Beth cut herself from her parents. He also planted the seeds in Yolanda’s head about Cindy.

The Brain Switch

So, the biggest twist in the episode was when Cindy, Mike, Jakeem and Thunderbolt journey down into the tunnels beneath Blue Valley. Mike then has Jakeem wish to take them to another of Dragon King’s lairs.

Just a detour for a second. There is a flashback at the beginning of the episode of decades earlier when Dolores Winters won her Oscar, which was the Ultra-Humanite’s brain in her body. We see Dragon King, pre-scales, talking to Ultra-Humanite in these scenes, which is fantastic. Props to Nelson Lee for returning.

Anyway, Mike, Jakeem and Cindy find the rotting corpse of Dragon King and discover his brain is missing. The albino gorilla then walks in, and it becomes apparent that Dragon King’s brain has been put in the gorilla’s body. This also makes them question where Ultra-Humanite’s brain is. That is when we discover that it is in Sylvester’s body and has been for a while. During all this, UH buries Pat alive.
