Chronicles Of Harkle: Excerpts From Tom Bower’s Book Provide Some Spicy Insight

Tom Bower

Don’t mess with author Tom Bower. That’s the only advice I would issue Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex. But, for a couple who preach compassion in action, their exploits do not match what Tom Bower has revealed in his new book, Revenge: Meghan, Harry and the War between the Windsors. Two excerpts have spilled spicy details that will have the Sussexes sweating buckets with what he has written in Revenge.

It has been previously stated that Tom Bower faced countless obstacles while writing the book, as many subjects were under NDAs not to talk to anyone. However, he’s managed to pull it off. After all, he’s Tom Bower. The guy, whose previous subjects include outgoing British Prime Minister Boris Johnson and future King of England (and Prince Harry’s father) Prince Charles, has tried to sue him.

Never Sued

Two subjects, Richard Desmond and Richard Branson, tried to sue Tom Bower for defamation but failed. The book on Desmond remains unpublished.

With Revenge out in just under a week, the excerpts that have come out revolve around the behind-the-scenes of Meghan’s 2017 Vanity Fair interview and the Queen’s reaction to the Duchess of Sussex not being at Prince Philip’s funeral. Around the time of the funeral, it was allegedly said that Meghan didn’t want to attend as it would put attention on her.

Tom Bower Reveals The Queen’s Reaction To The Duchess Of Sussex NOT Being At Prince Philip’s Funeral

According to The Times, in which the Revenge excerpts were published, in the second extract titled ‘Meghan, Harry And The War Between The Royal Family‘, Her Majesty The Queen expressed relief that the Duchess of Sussex was not present to farewell her late husband. Tom says in his book:

Thank goodness Meghan is not coming.

While this is not spicy, it looks at how the moaning monarch truly feels about Meghan Markle. She sees her as a disruptor. Someone who will do anything to usurp the status quo the Queen of England has put in place.

Tom Bower is one of those journalists who vets his sources. But, unlike Omid Scobie, Tom doesn’t make up stuff or choose a side. Instead, he goes for the jugular, ensuring that every piece of information is tripled checked before he even types a word.

He knows he is one of the best investigative journalists in Britain and doesn’t need to prove it. Mister Bower also understands how the Monarchy works. It has been struck by more drama over the last century and has survived. Meghan Markle is nothing more than a pest.

The Former Meghan Markle Tried To Control The Vanity Fair Shoot

We all know by now that Meghan is a control freak. So, it came as no surprise Tom Bower bought up the drama behind the Vanity Fair feature in 2017. There’s a lot to unpack, but I will review the highlights for you.

Meghan, The Unapologetic Flirt

So, the first thing we have that is spicy is that Sam Kashner, the journalist sent to interview Meghan, who worked with Vanity Fair, almost became caught in Markle’s web. As they were sitting down in her Toronto home, she started questioning him about his life, and it made him feel uneasy. As he looked around the space, he saw she had many books on London, wondering if she’d even read any of them. Essentially, she was flirting with him.

Serena Williams And Meghan Aren’t As Friendly As It Has Been Alleged

The second point is that despite Markle saying so, Meghan and Serena Williams are NOT friends but acquaintances. What’s interesting about that is Ms Williams reportedly said:

You’ve got to be who you are, Meghan. You can’t hide.

Serena Williams (allegedly) to Sam Kashner

Meghan Lied About Being A Humanitarian

Tom Bower says that Prince Harry changed Meghan’s life. Not to mention, Markle wanted to be seen as a humanitarian and wanted her Vanity Fair article to reflect her work, which brings us to point three. Unfortunately, according to Revenge, the fact-checkers at VF couldn’t find a shred of truth behind Meghan’s claims of humanitarianism.

Thomas Markle’s Lie To His Daughter

As it turns out, as point four, Meghan’s dad, Thomas Markle, was well-aware that Procter & Gamble and then-First Lady Hillary Clinton never got back to Meghan regarding her letter about the sexist washing-up ad. So instead, he [Tom Markle Snr] faked the story to please her. This was something we had an inkling of already.

Our theory stems from a video that surfaced of a young Meghan doing a class assignment about the dishwashing commercial. The students were tasked with writing letters. We all know that Meghan did NOT single-handedly get a big corporation to change the wording in one of their ads. They got enough complaints from thousands of people before they changed it. What corporate bigwig is ever going to listen to an 11-year-old girl?

Strict Instructions

For number five, Tom Bower references that Meghan was under strict instructions from Harry and a member of Sunshine Sachs, Keleigh Thomas Morgan, to NOT talk about sensitive topics. These included:

  • No talk about Trump.
  • No discussion about Prince Harry.
  • Race was off the table.
  • The relationship was NOT to be referenced.

However, the article would have to mention Harry as everything about Meghan’s “philanthropy” was fictional. Moreover, this brings us to our next point.

Meghan Goes Mental When The Article Doesn’t Go Her Way

Number six, and when the article doesn’t turn out the way Meghan wanted, she throws a wobbly. According to Meghan’s wishes, the piece wasn’t supposed to be about her but about her humanitarian work. However, the claims she made about her speech to the UN and the fight above against P&G weren’t what she thought they were.

Sam Kashner, who had never heard of Meghan before this interview, could play her at her own game. He brings up Harry and asks her what love is, which she balks at. Hmm. This was interesting. You would think someone like Meghan would thrive off something big like asking about being the girlfriend of one of Britain’s most eligible bachelors. Tom Bower brings up that Meghan more or less used her relationship to promote herself. Moreover, she is still doing this by milking her royal titles.

The Ignorant Media Mogul

Moving away from Meghan for a moment to our seventh point and Ken Sunshine, the founder of Meghan’s PR firm, Sunshine Sachs, is ignorant. According to Tom Bower in Revenge, Sunshine thought that given how the article was written, the Queen would be ringing Vanity Fair’s editor to complain.

The gif above is precisely how I felt when I read that. However, since not many Americans know how the British Monarchy works, this should be explained. So, Brittany of the Royal News Network did a video on the first extract from the book. She said that Buckingham Palace was like, “No, Her Majesty does not interfere with these types of matters”, or something along those lines.

The second funniest part is that Sunshine thought Meghan would fire the PR firm. Ah, she became a big name because she was Prince Harry’s girlfriend, not because she had talent.

Meghan’s Name Is Not On The Vanity Fair Cover (In Large Font)

As the final point, Tom Bower mentions that Meghan didn’t achieve the Vanity Fair cover because of who she was. She only got the cover because of who her future husband was. This is very true. The image above is what was on the cover. If you look right towards the bottom, Meghan’s name is written in small text.

I hadn’t considered it, but the two different-sized fonts show who has more influence. Prince Harry, being the more prominent name, got the large font. Meghan, the unknown actress, got the teeny tiny font towards the bottom.

Final Thoughts

I haven’t included things that keep slipping from my memory. Also, when I started writing this article, the third and fourth excerpts weren’t released yet. They came out a few hours later while I was asleep. I’ll do another piece later on, but I’m gobsmacked with what Tom Bower has dropped so far. I may buy Revenge if I can get my hands on it in a shop. Unfortunately, the only place that has it in Australia is online at The Book Depository.
