We’re a bit late to the party, but last week’s NCIS: Sydney episode, Doggieccino Day Afternoon, gives us a bit more detail into Team Sydney. When Doc Roy becomes a hostage inside a Doggie café, JD and the rest of the team have to get him out and ensure no one gets blown up in the process.

When Louie, a 15-year-old girl, holds up a doggie café with a bomb strapped to her body, Roy is in the centre. He manages to get a call through to JD who dispatches the team and runs into his ex who is involved with the hostage negotiation.

The Sister, The Mother And The Drug Dealer

As the team digs deeper, they discover that Louie’s mother is a drug user and that her sister, Casey, has suffered from a cancer relapse.

JD’s ex, Kath, has to make the call as to whether to order the sniper to shoot. This causes further friction with JD who refuses to have a sniper take out a 15-year-old girl.

As the team watch Louie’s livestream, Blue starts getting upset and fears Roy, who has become a father-figure to her will get hurt.

Inside the café, Roy manages to talk Louie down to the point she stands up to her mother’s drug dealer. The bomb squad smuggles in a bomb sniffer dog. Louie tells Roy that the bomb is fake. The dog lies down, telling Roy a completely different story.

Money For Cancer Treatment

Louie’s mother confesses to Mackey that she made the vest, but the drug dealer made the bomb. She explains that the drugs they need for Casey are unavailable in Australia and that they’re $40k a pop. Casey is then kidnapped by the drug dealer.

Roy lets his guard down with Louie, explaining that his wife has dementia. Louie doesn’t believe him until his wife rings him, distressed that she cannot leave her care home.

At HQ, Blue struggles with the situation, leaving Mackey to have to coax her. With her confidence restored, Blue rewatches footage of Louie and Casey and realises that Casey has an ID tracker on her bag.

Evie, DeShawn and Mackey can find her and the dealer using it. Meanwhile, JD has to beg Kath not to give the order to shoot Louie. It takes a lot of convincing, but approval is given for a jammer to be used. Mackey then shoots the drug dealer. Also, the bomb squad has to be brought in when Louie unplugs the bomb, and the timer starts ticking.

Dropping Bombs On The Audience

After the case has wrapped, Mackey and JD are talking when Mackey drops a bomb on the audience; JD is or was married. JD confirms he and his ex-wife are in the middle of a divorce. He also reveals he has a son a little younger than Louie.

Finally, Blue takes Roy to visit his wife.

This episode was emotional, though we wish personal details about our characters had been revealed a little sooner.

We reward Doggieccino Day Afternoon:
