We’re a few days late to the Disney+ Day events, but we’ve been trying to catch up with other posts. We’re going to share promos where we can. Though, there’s not a lot of Star Wars coverage we can share. Of all the projects that are coming, we’re incredibly excited for Obi-Wan Kenobi.
We’re also going over a few things that were revealed before Disney+ Day such as the reboot of Cheaper by the Dozen. Don’t worry, we won’t be singing songs from Mulan.
So, without further ado, here’s your breakdown of Disney+ Day!
Marvel Cinematic Universe/Pre-MCU
Disney+ Day included a heap of MCU updates. Moreover, some of these we already knew about, but the announcements are now official. Before we jump in, here’s a look at the sizzle reel for what is to come in the Marvel Cinematic Universe in the next year, courtesy of 3C Films on YouTube:

Secret Invasion
This was announced at last year’s Disney Investor Day with the announcement that Samuel L. Jackson and Ben Mendelsohn would return to their iconic roles as Nick Fury and Talos, respectively. The Investor Day event also unveiled the title art.
However, the Disney+ Day announcement provided a new look logo as a way of providing a nod to the Skrull species’ ability to shapeshift. It also gave us a first look at Nick Fury without his iconic eye patch.
Ms Marvel
We’ve known since 2019 that Ms Marvel was in the pipeline. Moreover, we’ve got a few small first looks at the show, but this is the first time we’ve gotten a look at Kamala with someone else who will appear in the series alongside her. What’s more, is Erik Voss of New Rockstars broke down the footage where he said the boy with Kamala on the rooftop is her friend Bruno.
Also, the promo shows how Kamala may get her powers. Moreover, her abilities appear to be altered to prevent them from being similar to Reed Richards/Mister Fantastic. Kamala may end up getting her powers similarly to how Carol Danvers/Captain Marvel got hers in Captain Marvel.
Moon Knight
Who would’ve thought that Star Wars actor Oscar Isaac would be playing a superhero? That was the LAST thing we expected it. Anyway, Disney+Day provided us with a first look at Moon Knight. Isaac will play the titular character, Marc Spector/Moon Knight, who suffers from a disorder where he has multiple personalities.
I Am Groot
If you love Baby Groot, who doesn’t? Then, this next topic is for you. It was announced at the Disney Investor Day last year there would be an animated spin-off television series about everybody’s favourite tree baby.
There was no information released, but James Gunn did confirm on Twitter that he would serve as an executive producer on the series. I Am Groot will be the second animated series in the MCU after What If…?
Ironheart
We got an updated logo for the upcoming Ironheart series which will star Dominique Thorne as Riri Williams. That was all the information we got on the series. However, we know a few things about the character already. She’s about to make her debut in the MCU in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. Also, RDJ (Robert Downey Jr) himself said before the announcement of Riri’s pending arrival that he openly backed the idea of welcoming another Iron person to the franchise.
If we’re honest, we liked the original logo better.
She-Hulk
Speaking of new logos, She-Hulk has received an updated logo that sits more along the lines of legal dramas from the 00s.
Here’s a comparison of the original logo and the new one.
For those who don’t know, She-Hulk focuses on Jennifer Walters, the cousin of Bruce Banner/The Hulk. The series is a legal comedy as it deals with Jen’s transformation into becoming a superhero lawyer while being mentored by Bruce on how to control her powers.
Information that we have so far that has been dropped in recent months is that Jameela Jamil will be playing Jennifer’s arch-nemesis, Titania. Mark Ruffalo will be reprising his role as Bruce, and we’ll see him go from Professor Hulk to himself again. Also, Tim Roth will be returning to the MCU as Emil Blonsky/Abomination whose previous appearance after more than a decade came in Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings.
Of all the MCU shows that were announced, She-Hulk is the one we’re excited for probably the most. We love Bruce, but not seeing much of his life outside of the Avengers was beginning to kill us.
X-Men ’97
For anyone who was old enough to remember the animated X-Men animated series in the ’90s are in for a real treat. The series is returning as X-Men ’97 and will continue on Disney+. This is not a reboot show, but rather a continuation of the original. However, it’s unclear as to why the series is now under the Marvel Studios banner as it is not MCU related. Could this announcement be a hint that the mutants are coming to the MCU much sooner than we thought? X-Men ’97 is scheduled to drop new episodes in 2023.
Echo
Hawkeye isn’t even out yet, and they’re already doing a spin-off. Echo was announced a while back and will focus on Maya Lopez/Echo, a deaf athlete who has the ability to copy someone else’s movements. Basically, she’s similar to Taskmaster, but without the tech. Her first appearance will be in Hawkeye before she ventures into her own series.
Spider-Man: Freshman Year
Disney+ Day spoiled us as we also received a third MCU animated series in the form of Spider-Man: Freshman Year. This show will focus on Peter Parker during his Freshman year of high school before he became Spider-Man. It likely won’t feature Tom Holland as Peter.
Agatha: House of Harkness
WandaVision was a runaway success as the first Disney+ MCU series. Kathryn Hahn’s Agnes/Agatha Harkness stole the show. At the end of the series, she is defeated by Wanda. However, this is not the last we’ve seen of her. Joe Otterson of Variety reported in October that Hahn would be getting a spinoff with Agatha returning. However, it wasn’t until Disney+ Day did we learn a tiny bit more about the series.
The show will focus (obviously) on Agatha and if the title is anything to go off, her family. Though, this is a guess given the series will be called, “Agatha: House of Harkness”. We saw some of her back story in WandaVision.
Hopefully, we’ll discover how Agatha came to be the witch we came to love in WandaVision but on a much larger scale.
Loki Season 2
Everybody’s favourite trickster god, Loki is back, but we all knew this due to the credits of Season 1 saying that Season 2 is coming. As to what the new season entails is anyone’s guess at the moment. But it may take place after Ant-Man 3, given the involvement of Jonathan Majors.
As for our favourite variants, Loki and Sylvie, they’re going to be star-crossed lovers, which will be fun to see given that they’re versions of each other. Talk about falling in love with yourself, Loki! Very Narcissus, indeed.
What If…? Season 2
What If…? will also receive a second season which was announced before the commencement of the series. It is not one hundred percent confirmed what will be in the second season, but if we had to guess, it would have to deal with the consequences of the Watcher’s actions.
Captain Carter will play a role in the season. It’s unclear whether it will include phase four plot points.
Armor Wars
Don Cheadle is returning to the role of James “Rhodey” Rhodes while Sam Rockwell will return as Justin Hammer from Iron Man 2 and Walter Goggins reprises his role as Sonny Burch from Ant-Man and the Wasp. According to Cheadle, the aftermath of what happened after Tony Stark’s death and what would happen if his tech fell into the incorrect hands. This, presumably, is where Hammer and Burch come into play.
Marvel Zombies
One of our favourite What If…? episodes is the Zombies ep and well, it appears that Marvel Studios agrees a there will be a spin-off. While no information was released about the series outside of the title art, we can assume the animation style.
The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special
Our final piece of Marvel content that we have coming is The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special. Now, we’ve known about this for a while too because it was announced at the Investor Day last year. It is believed the series will film back-to-back with Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.
The Proud Family: Louder and Prouder
Moving away from the Marvel stuff now and we got our first glimpse at the continuation of The Proud Family in The Proud Family: Louder and Prouder. Much of the cast is slated to return with a few new faces. There have also been character redesigns for Penny’s twin siblings, BeBe and CeCe. The series is due to debut in February 2022. Obi-Wan Kenobi
Ewan MacGregor is BACK as Obi-Wan Kenobi in the upcoming Obi-Wan Kenobi series! Set ten years after his fateful duel with Anakin on Mustafar, Obi-Wan will have to leave Tatooine, meaning having to temporarily step away from looking over his former friend’s ten-year-old son, Luke who is living with Skywalker’s stepbrother and stepsister-in-law, Owen and Beru Lars.
The series will see the return of Hayden Christensen to the role of Darth Vader. The series will debut sometime in 2022 and will be directed by The Mandalorian’s Deborah Chow.
Predator: Prey
There’s a prequel to Predator coming called Prey and will debut on Disney+ in 2022.
Sneakerella
Looking for a new take on Cinderella? Well, Disney+ Day unveiled the first look at Sneakerella, a new take on the fairytale. The story tells of a young sneaker designer who lives with his stepfather and works at his late mother’s shoe store. It’ll be a musical where the lead character falls in love with the daughter of sneaker royalty. Here’s your first look at Sneakerella via the official Disney YouTubeTube Channel:
The Ice Age Adventures of Buck Wild
If you thought the Ice Age franchise was done, think again. At the Disney Investor Day in 2020, it was announced that a series would be produced starring Simon Pegg reprising his role as Buck from Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs. However, it was announced animation studio, BlueSky would be shut down, hence cancelling many of the productions already in the pipeline.
Though, one of the productions, The Ice Age Adventures of Buck Wild was saved and converted into a film for Disney+. It’s unclear who from the original cast will appear in the project as Crash was recast. Moreover, it is unknown whether Josh Peck, Queen Latifah, John Leguizamo, Ray Romano and Denis Leary will return for their roles as very few characters spoke in the trailer outside of the possums and Buck.
Of Manny, Ellie, Sid and Diego, both Manny and Sid had speaking lines. Sid sounded different so he might have been recast too. We won’t know until a cast list comes out. Here’s the first trailer via the Walt Disney YouTube Channel:
Win or Lose
Pixar has a few new projects coming out in the next few years. While we already know about Lightyear and Seeing Red, we’re getting a series called Win or Lose. It will be the first original series by the famed animation company and will be the first not to be an expansion of a film.
The series will focus on a week in the life of a school softball team and each episode will focus on a specific character. The series will drop in 2023.
Cars on the Road
The 2020 Investor Day mentioned something about a Cars television series. Well, we think we know what that is now. Pete Docter announced that Larry the Cable Guy and Owen Wilson will return to their iconic roles in the series.
Baymax!
Technically, Big Hero Six is a Marvel movie, but we didn’t include this new series focused on Baymax because it doesn’t count as there is no connection with Marvel Studios. Willow
Warwick Davis is returning to his iconic role as Willow in an upcoming series which was announced last year during the Disney Investor Day. After a recast and several directors stepping down, the series is now back on track. Warwick hosted a meet-the-cast featurette with some rather hilarious results.
The cast features two very familiar faces to fans of Star Wars and the MCU. For fans of the Tom Holland Spider-Man films, you’ll certainly remember Tony Revolori aka the guy behind Flash Thompson, Peter’s schoolyard bully. His character is currently unknown.
Meanwhile, the second is Erin Kellyman who has appeared in both Star Wars and the MCU. She appeared in Solo which also featured Warwick and if we remember correctly, they shared scenes. Though, Warwick (allegedly) doesn’t remember it as Solo is one of the few Star Wars movies he hasn’t seen despite being in it. Kellyman was last seen in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier where she played the villain. Erin will be playing a character named Jade.

Tiana
Another project we knew was coming is Tiana, which is set after Princess and the Frog and will release to Disney+ in 2023. The series will focus on Tiana as she focuses on her new role as Princess of Maldonia.
Disenchanted
After years of delays, director changes, and development hell, the sequel to Enchanted is finally coming. Set years after the original film, the new film, entitled Disenchanted will see the return of Patrick Dempsey and Amy Adams in their original roles. However, it doesn’t look like James Marsden is returning. If this is the case, then hopefully, they’ll explain it.
Cheaper by the Dozen
If you grew up with Cheaper by the Dozen with Steve Martin, then you’ll be interested in the reboot starring Gabrielle Union and Zach Braff. The film will premiere on Disney Plus and focus on a blended mixed-race family of twelve. There’s nothing else on this film yet but it’s going to be fascinating to watch as we watched the Steve Martin films and grew up with them.
Cheaper the Dozen is due to drop in 2022.
Diary of a Wimpy Kid
Does anyone remember the Diary of a Wimpy Kid live-action movies? We’ve personally never seen them but they weren’t as accurate as it should have been. Well, it’s back and is staying true to the original source material. It’s animated in the same style as the books.
The first film is due for release in December. The screenplay is written by author Jeff Kinney.
Zootopia+
Get ready to jump back into the world of Zootopia with Zootopia+. Announced at the Disney Investor Day last year, Disney+ Day provided a bit of an update. The series will drop in 2022 and will provide insight into characters who were seen but not explored during the film, including Gazelle.
Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Rodrick Rules
Speaking of Diary of a Wimpy Kid, the second book in the franchise is already being adapted as an animated film. The film is slated for presumedly a 2022 release.
Chip n Dale: Rescue Rangers Reboot
Everyone’s favourite Disney chipmunks, Chip and Dale are returning in a reboot of Rescue Rangers, a television series from the late 80s and early 90s. The film which debuts in 2022 will pick up several years after the series ends. Finally, the film will star John Mulaney and Andy Samberg with Seth Rogan appearing in a cameo.
The Spiderwick Chronicles
As we reach the end of this post, another reboot in the works is The Spiderwick Chronicles. Originally, the book series was made into a book with Freddie Highmore playing twins Simon and Jared Grace while Sarah Bolger played the twins’ sister, Mallory.
In all honesty, the books would work better as a television series. The announcement was made on the Disney+ Instagram account.
Better Nate Than Ever
In 2022, the book Better Nate Than Ever will be adapted for a Disney+ film. It tells the story of a teenage boy who loves Broadway and wants to become a Broadway star.
Pinocchio
To end our Disney+ Day coverage, Pinocchio is being rebooted into live-action with Tom Hanks as Geppetto. The film is slated for a late 2022 release.
