A hearty congratulations to Hugh Grosvenor, the Duke of Westminster and his new wife, Olivia Henson, the new Duchess of Westminster. The couple were married at Chester Cathedral on June 7th 2024. Prince William was in attendance as an usher. The Prince of Wales’ cousin, Princess Eugenie was also present.
The new Duchess of Westminster wore the Fabergé Myrtle Leaf Tiara, one of the tiaras owned by her in-laws. Her bridal gown was designed by Emma Victoria Payne. The tiara has been worn by many Grosvenor brides since 1906.
Hugh is not a royal, but an aristocrat.
A Brief History
Known as Hughie, to his friends and family, Hugh Grosvenor, is the godson of King Charles III, who was not in attendance for the wedding. The Grosvenor family have a long association with the royal family. There is a rumour of a tiff between the mother-in-law of the Duke’s eldest sister, Tamara, and Queen Camilla back in 2004. The Prince of Wales’ late mother, Princess Diana, was godmother to Hugh’s older sister, Edwina.
Olivia Henson went to school with Princess Eugenie and started dating Hugh Grosvenor a few years ago.
When Hugh Grosvenor Became The Duke Of Westminster
Hugh Grosvenor became the 7th Duke of Westminster when his father Gerald, died in 2016, which will make Olivia Henson the Duchess of Westminster upon their marriage. The most recent Duchess is Hugh’s mother, Natalia, who is a godmother of Prince William and becomes the Dowager Duchess of Westminster as her daughter-in-law becomes the new Duchess of Westminster.
Moreover, Hugh is godfather to Prince George and allegedly Prince Harry’s son, Archie.
Prince George did not attend the wedding as he had to go to school. The Princess of Wales was also not present as she is still dealing with her cancer treatment.
