July was an odd month as we were still soldiering through Fire and Blood. We had to add something to our reads of 2023, so we read the Harry Potter prequel story on Muggle Net. Going into August, we started getting behind on Goodreads, so we read the first screenplay for the Fantastic Beasts films. These books are exceptionally easy and can usually be one in one sitting. However, it’s been so busy that it’s taken a couple of attempts to get through one screenplay.
Let’s say we’re dealing with many prequels in these two months. July and August are being put together because there is no point in doing a reading post on just one book.
July
- Harry Potter Prequel – J.K. Rowling
August
- Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them (screenplay) – J.K. Rowling
- Fire and Blood – George R.R. Martin
Each of the books we’ve referenced here are all prequels to other worlds, mainly Game of Thrones and Harry Potter. I wanted to get as many of these out of the way as possible, given that September will be about expanding into Greek myth. We’ll talk about that in our Tuesday, September 5th newsletter.
Also, the next book that will be reading will be added to September’s book count, so be on the look out. It feels so good to be done with Fire and Blood. It’s been a long time since we’ve read something as long as that was and we’re not fast readers. It took forever because there was too much detail.
