Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles

What We Know So Far About Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem

Mutant

Cowabunga, dudes! The teenage mutant ninja turtles return to the big screen in August with the first animated film at the cinema since 2007’s TMNT. Unfortunately, not much information on TMNT: Mutant Mayhem has been confirmed, so please bear with us. When we have more accurate intel, we’ll be sure to share. Now, we do need to stress that if you type Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem into Google, it comes up with the following names as part of the cast:

  • Tom Holland
  • James Marsden
  • Dylan O’Brien
  • Ryan Potter
  • Seth Rogan

This cast list is NOT confirmed. The only one who is confirmed, if the film’s IMDb page is accurate, is Seth Rogan, a producer on the film and has often been in movies with his name in the producer’s slot. There is so much box office potential for this movie that most of the others have not had.

UNCONFIRMED

A similar list of people appears on the Turtlepedia page for Mutant Mayhem. However, that, too, is NOT confirmed. It will be some time before we get an official cast list.

However, actor Shamon Brown Jr appears on the IMDb cast list, which also contains Seth Rogan, and he’s rumoured to be voicing Raphael.

The film will be animated similarly to how Spider-Man: Into the Spider-verse was done.

It will also feature teenage voices for the turtles, as confirmed by Seth Rogan on Twitter.

The featured image on this post is one of the concept art pieces that has been on the web for a while. So, what do we know about the Turtles and co?

Not a lot, it seems. However, from the small things, such as Leonardo’s homework, we get a sense that the film will focus on the turtles’ teenage aspect. Also, what teenager goes after a mysterious crime syndicate?

The Mutant Turtles Are Trying To Be Normal Teenagers

On the homework sheet of Leo’s that has also come out, if you look closely, it seems like he’s made a note to himself to apologise to April. This is from the official TMNT Movie Instagram page.

The film has a synopsis that reads, as per Global News Wire:

In Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem, after years of being sheltered from the human world, the Turtle brothers set out to win the hearts of New Yorkers and be accepted as normal teenagers through heroic acts. Their new friend April O’Neil helps them take on a notorious crime syndicate, but they soon get in over their heads when an army of mutants is unleashed upon them.

Synopsis from Global News Wire

Given what the summary says, the turtles attempt to fit in with the humans meaning this new story sees them interacting with humans outside of April. It’s unclear whether Casey Jones will be in this film. There could be subtle clues to his existence if he’s not a significant player.

There’s nothing on Splinter, but you cannot have a turtles project without their rat dad.

The Turtles’ Appearances

Check out the featured image to see what the turtles may look like. You cannot tell from the picture, but Leo has braces. There were another couple of images that showed him with the braces. Donnie has square glasses.

This is the TMNT project where Leo’s appearance has been altered to show teenage features. Donnie, meanwhile, is often shown wearing square glasses or goggles.

In the live-action 2014 and 2016 films, Donnie had round glasses with what looked like magnifying lenses.

Raph is seen to have his bandanna over his whole head, as shown in the 2014 and 2016 films. This look has been used before for Raphael and other turtles in different media. The 2012 series used this appearance whenever Raph went into quest mode. Mikey looks more or less the same as he has in previous media.
