Could Li be any more spiteful towards her sister, Poppy? Not only does Li refuse to call her sister by her chosen name, “Poppy”, but she also thinks she can control her and Luna by dictating where her niece can work, which apparently can’t be at her daughter-in-law’s family business.
In the first episode of the week, we learn why Li hates Poppy. While Poppy’s affair with the head surgeon has come up multiple times, there’s more to it. Well, look at it this way. At least Poppy isn’t an afterthought like little Beth was.
According to Li, she resents Poppy because she was able to give birth to Luna while Li had to adopt Finn. What makes this jealousy pointless is that it makes Li appear ungrateful that she even has her son. Poppy points out that, yes, Jack had an affair with Sheila. But if that hadn’t happened, Li wouldn’t have her precious son.
Even Finn, who has to worry about Liam Spencer trying to steal Steffy away from him, cannot understand why his mother hates his aunt so much. He was once borderline scary due to his obsession with his wife. We’re with him on this. Yes, Poppy is a free spirit. Luna said as much. Yes, she had an affair with the married head surgeon, which almost ruined Li’s reputation. But that doesn’t mean she has a right to tell her sister and niece what they can and cannot do.
As RJ has said repeatedly, Luna has become a vital part of the Forrester Creations team. They all love having her. She hasn’t caused a problem for anyone, least of all the Forresters. She’s become well acquainted with Eric and Ridge. She has even helped heal some of the rift between them by finding Eric’s beloved stapler.
In the most recent episode, Luna tells her mother and RJ that her aunt has no right to tell her or Poppy what to do. Also, she’s been a great support to RJ since Eric told him that he’s dying. Also, Li has no say in whether Luna should leave as she doesn’t work for the Forresters. If anything, someone should tell Steffy what’s going on so she can do something. After all, the last she want to deal with is her mother-in-law, telling her husband’s cousin to get out of town.
If we’re honest, Li reminds us of Zoe Buckingham attempting to do the same to her sister, Paris, when she showed up. However, Zoe wanted Paris out of Forrester because she feared she’d ruin her plan to snag Carter and Zende. Li wants Poppy and Luna out of the picture because she’s worried about the impact they’ll have on Finn’s assoication with the Forresters, though it’s really about her feelings. Conclusively, Finn hasn’t got a problem with his aunt and cousin. They haven’t done anything to him for him to feel the same way his mother does.
