Farewell, Johnny – Singer And Home And Away Actor Johnny Ruffo Dies Of Brain Cancer

Johnny Ruffo, brain cancer

An Australian legend has left us. Johnny Ruffo, a singer and Home and Away alumni, has died of brain cancer aged 35. Ruffo has been fighting the disease since 2017 after he was rushed to the hospital by his devoted partner, Tahnee after he started having painful migraines. The news of Johnny’s passing came via his Instagram page and was soon picked up by Peter Ford, Australia’s most-well known entertainment reporter.

Johnny Ruffo’s death has devastated his former costars, including Shane Withington, who posted to Twitter:

Even Sarah Roberts, who didn’t appear on Home and Away until a year after Johnny left the show, posted her grief on Instagram under the post on Johnny’s Instagram post by his family. The Home and Away social media team at Channel 7 also posted a tribute to Johnny Ruffo.

Brain Cancer Awareness

Johnny beat brain cancer once before learning it had come back in 2021, where it was classified as terminal. From his original diagnosis to his death, he was a massive advocate for the fight against brain cancer. He is not the first Australian celebrity to fight against the disease.

Journalist and television personality Carrie Bickmore started advocating when her husband, Greg Lange, died of brain cancer in 2010 after a decade-long battle. She also started Carrie’s Beanies 4 Brain Cancer as a way of raising money.

We’re sending so much love to Tahnee and the Ruffo family in their grief. Life is short, but that Johnny lived his to the fullest and he shall always be remembered for his cheeky sense of humour.
