Home And Away: Xander Arrives On Irene’s Doorstep And A Little More Intel

Xander

Jasmine’s half-brother has arrived! We reported last week that Jasmine’s life is about to be turned upside down with the arrival of relatives she never knew she had. In last night’s double-billing, Xander arrived on Irene’s doorstep and introduced himself as Jasmine’s brother, and this is where the episode ended. So, there is a couple of things we wanted to go over.

The first is that this episode, despite Xander appearing for twenty seconds, clarifies that Xander is a Delaney and, therefore, Jasmine’s half-brother. The credits confirm this, and so does the second promo. So that brings us to the second thing we needed to mention.

During the promo, there’s a brief moment where Rose and Xander are talking, and it’s mentioned that they are both Jasmine’s half-siblings, not just Rose. It also shows Jasmine’s animosity and bitterness at how her siblings had a life with their father, but she was abandoned. Cash seems to push her in a positive direction when he points out that getting to know her half-siblings might be a way to close the chapter left by her dad’s absence.

Xander And Rose Didn’t Know About Jasmine’s Existence

The promo makes it abundantly clear that Xander and Rose had no idea that Jasmine existed before their dad’s death. So, this makes us ask the question of why. Also, Jasmine says to Xander and Rose that she meant nothing to their father for them not to know about her.

Moreover, this reveals what the siblings knew about their dad’s previous life. Without a doubt, this would’ve been a shock to them. Likewise, finding out about Jasmine’s existence would’ve been surprising and left them with questions. However, it appears that it clears itself up over time.

Is There Trouble Brewing?

We’ve gotten glimpses of Rose’s jealousy over Jasmine’s relationship with Cash. Again, though, how far could this part of the story go? It’s too early to tell. For all we know, it might lead to Jasmine’s departure. From the promo, Jasmine struggles to understand why her father could leave her and have another family with someone else. Having her two younger siblings present in her life might help her come to grips with what he did.

If there is a love triangle, it might get awkward fast. Furthermore, this might prompt a breakup or Jasmine declaring she must leave the Bay. Though, Jasmine’s departure could be anything.

To end this post, we need to ask if Xander and Rose will cause issues for Jasmine. Their presence will cause problems. Again, it would be no different with Mac showing up and Dean wanting nothing to do with her. However, the siblings will likely become closer over time.
