Prince Vincent Frederik Minik Alexander is the youngest son of King Frederik X and his wife, Queen Mary. He is the older twin brother of Princess Josephine and the younger brother of Crown Prince Christian and Princess Isabella. Vincent is also a grandson of John Donaldson, Queen Margrethe II and the late Prince Henrik and Henrietta Donaldson. He is also a nephew of Prince Joachim and Princess Marie. Prince Vincent’s royal cousins are Nikolai, Felix, Henrik and Athena.
The prince was born alongside Princess Josephine on January 8 2011. He is 26 minutes older than his twin. One of his middle names, Minik, is Greenlandic for earwax. For his and Josephine’s Christening, he was dressed in the royal Christening gown like his two older siblings, while his twin wore a Christening gown found amongst Queen Ingrid’s possessions. Frederik joked that they were going to name Vincent ‘Elvis’ as the twins were born on the same day as Elvis Presley.
Moreover, Prince Vincent has participated with his sisters in the royal run, a fun run set up by their father for his 50th birthday. His godparents are:
- Felipe, the Prince of Asturias (now King Felipe of Spain)
- John Stuart Donaldson (maternal uncle)
- Caroline Heering (mother’s lady-in-waiting)
- Prince of Sayn-Wittgenstein-Berleburg (father’s cousin and formerly the Heredity Prince)
- Baroness Helle Reedtz-Thott (family friend)
- Michael Preben, Count Ahlefeldt-Laurvig-Bille (family friend)
Finally, as one of the three younger children of King Frederik and Queen Mary, Prince Vincent will be required to obtain a job to make his own money as an adult, as the only sibling who will be government-funded is Christian.
