Who Is Crown Prince Christian Of Denmark?

Crown Prince Christian

Crown Prince Christian is the eldest child and son of King Frederik X and Queen Mary of Denmark. He was born on October 15 2005. At the time, he was second in line to the throne of Denmark. As per tradition, he was given the name of Christian to alternate between himself and his father. Christian’s great-grandfather was King Frederik IX.

His full name was Christian Valdemar Henri John at his christening. His last two middle names are homage to his two grandfathers, Prince Henrik (born as Henri) and John Donaldson.

Christian has three younger siblings: sisters Isabella and Josephine and brother Prince Vincent. He is also the third grandchild and grandson of Queen Margrethe II and Prince Henrik, with his cousins Counts Nikolai and Felix being older than him. Crown Prince Christian is also the nephew of Prince Joachim, Princess Marie, Patricia Bailey and her husband, Jane Stephens and her husband John Stuart Donaldson and his wife, amongst others. His Aunt Jane is also one of his godmothers.

The Crown Prince’s other royal cousins are Count Henrik and Countess Athena. At one point, before Princess Marie, his aunt was Alexandra, Countess of Frederiksborg, Prince Joachim‘s first wife and the mother of Nikolai and Felix.

Crown Prince Christian has been attending the Ordrup Gymnasium, a secondary school in Denmark. Finally, the prince is also the godfather of Prince Gustav Albrecht, his second cousin. Gustav Albrecht is the grandson of Christian’s great-aunt, Princess Benedikte.
