Who Is Princess Isabella Of Denmark?

Princess Isabella

Isabella Henrietta Ingrid Margrethe is a Princess of Denmark and Countess of Monpezat. She is the eldest daughter of King Frederik X and Queen Mary. Isabella is the younger sister of Crown Prince Christian and the older sister of twins Prince Vincent and Princess Josephine, and the oldest granddaughter of former Queen Margrethe II and the late Prince Henrik.

Born on April 21st 2007, Princess Isabella was christened on July 1st 2007. What’s more, her birth was deemed a historic moment. Previously, no princess had been born into the Danish royal house since her great-aunt Queen Anne-Marie of Greece in 1946.

Princess Isabella was third in the line of succession at her birth. Thus, her father was the heir to the Danish throne, with her older brother in the place below him. Also, upon Frederik’s accession, Isabella moves to second in line after Christian.

Who Are Princess Isabella’s Godparents?

In any case, Princess Isabella’s godparents include:

  • Princess Alexia of Greece and Denmark (her father’s cousin)
  • Queen Mathilde (the then-Duchess of Brabant)
  • Nadine Johnston
  • Christian Buchwald
  • Peter Heering
  • Marie Louise Skeel

Is Princess Isabella Named After Anyone?

Yes. Isabella is named after Danish Queen Consort Isabella of Austria. Nevertheless, other namesakes include her paternal grandmother, Queen Margrethe II, her late maternal grandmother, Henrietta Donaldson and her paternal great-grandmother, Queen Ingrid of Denmark.

First Royal Engagement

Finally, Princess Isabella’s first engagement was on 6th June 2015, when she attended the christening of a ferry named in her honour, the M/F Prinsesse Isabella. Furthermore, the princess also attended her parents’ visit to Greenland from the 1st to the 8th of August 2014 with her siblings.
