James Sirius Potter is the eldest of Harry and Ginny Potter’s three children. Introduced in the Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows epilogue, James is seen bullying his younger brother, Albus Severus Potter, for potentially being in Slytherin when he gets sorted into his Hogwarts house.
Young James Sirius has inherited many attributes from his late paternal grandmother and partial namesake, James Potter, who was known to be a bit of bullying during his Hogwarts days. For example, his treatment of Severus Snape was horrible. Also, it seems that the younger James has gotten some of his traits from his maternal uncles, Fred and George Weasley, who were popular, and practical jokesters.
Half-Bloodness Runs In The Potter Genes
Like his father, James Sirius is a half-blood, along with his younger siblings, and, like his entire maternal family, was sorted into Gryffindor during his first year at Hogwarts. By the time of the Deathly Hallows epilogue, he is in at least his third year, as he is two years older than Albus and four years older than their younger sister, Lily Luna.
James Sirius was almost named after his father’s late godfather, Sirius Black, whom Harry had become close to after discovering that Sirius hadn’t been a murderer. Moreover, James II was distantly related to the Black family via his mother, Ginny, whose paternal grandmother was a Black.
Quidditch Fanatic
Like most of his family, James Sirius is an avid Quidditch fan. He attended the Quidditch World Cup with his family in 2014, where he sat with his father and siblings while his mother reported on the match. The Potter sons were introduced to Viktor Krum, an old friend, given Harry’s connections. Krum had once shown interest in their Aunt Hermione when they [Krum and Hermione] were teenagers. Krum would play in the match for his native Bulgaria. James Sirius supported Krum’s team. Albus supported the Brazilian team.
Given his tendencies to bully Albus, it was suggested by Rita Skeeter, who was covering the Quidditch Match with their mother, that James had almost pushed his brother out of the VIP box when he was seen laughing. However, Al had been saved by their uncle Ron.
True Gryffindor
Starting Hogwarts in 2015, no one in the family was surprised that James Sirius was sorted into Gryffindor. Though, Harry’s godson, Teddy Lupin, was met with disappointment. Teddy was in Hufflepuff like his late mother, Nymphadora Tonks Lupin.
Finally, James Sirius interrupted Teddy’s snogfest with Victoire Weasley, James’s cousin.
Partial Personality
Ginny has stated that James is too much like Ron, who has terrible timing. As mentioned earlier, he’s also a sort-of bully and a prankster, traits taken from other family members. According to the Cursed Child play, James inherited his father’s invisibility cloak, which had once been his grandfather, James I’s.
