Who Did David Tennant Play In Harry Potter?

To most people, David Tennant will always be known as the Tenth Doctor in Doctor Who and as House of the Dragon‘s Ty Tennant’s father. But David appeared in a bit part during 2005’s Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, and some people might not know who he played as he was only in about half-a-dozen scenes at most.

So, who did David Tennant play in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire?

He played Bartemius “Barty” Crouch Junior, a Death Eater who masqueraded as Alastor “Mad-Eye” Moody during the Triwizard Cup—the reason why David Tennant was only in a handful of scenes is that Brendan Gleeson playing the role of Mad-Eye for about 80% of the movie until it was revealed that Alastor was not who he claimed to be.

Tennant briefly appears at the film’s beginning for a brief moment. This was the scene where Barty Jr casts the Dark Mark in the sky at the Quidditch World Cup. He also appears in a flashback where his fellow Death Eater Igor Karkaroff rats him out. He is last seen after the Polyjuice potion wears off. Then he is dragged off to have his soul removed by the Dementors of Azkaban Prison.

Verdict On David Tennant In Harry Potter

David Tennant did a fantastic job in the role. Despite his limited screen time, he’s always been one of those actors who can play any character and excel at it. He sold the licking flicking that he did for the character, which is the memorable part of the portrayal.
