Prince William is damned if he does and damned if he doesn’t. The Prince of Wales has been criticised for not attending the FIFA Women’s World Cup in Sydney to support the Lioness’ bid to win the grand finale match against Spain. He has been called “misogynist,” with some claiming that if the men were playing, he’d be there in a heartbeat.
Okay, this is where people don’t think logically. First off, William is on holiday with his wife and children. Secondly, the Women’s World Cup finale will be at least two hours. Thirdly, a flight from London to Sydney is almost 23 hours. Let’s not forget that he is a staunch environmentalist who follows through with what he promises.
Why Would Prince William Travel 23 Hours For A 2-Hour Football Game? It’s Not Logical, Given His Environmental Commitment
Attending a 2-hour event in a foreign country on the other side of the world makes no logical sense when you have to travel almost 23 hours. Also, what gives people the outrageous thought that Prince William hates women? He has never hated women. Just because he doesn’t attend the women’s world cup finale doesn’t mean he’s against women or women’s sports. He is the Football Association’s President, which covers both women’s and men’s soccer.
He has been one of the Lionesses’ biggest supporters since the beginning. Prince William doesn’t have to attend every game, regardless of his position. They understand. For those who claim he’s a misogynist, why did he attend a match in 2022 when the girls were playing in England? Also, why would Prince William actively hug the girls upon the same win?
For those who will slam me and call me a misogynist, I am a woman who deals in facts and logic, not woke feelings. So what if Prince William doesn’t attend? He has had his family holiday booked for months, and it is an annual getaway he has with his family.
Criticism Is Pointless
Finally, I want to address another thing. Queen Letizia and King Felipe will cheer on the Spanish team at the women’s world cup final. They probably have time in their schedules to attend, considering their two daughters, Princess Leonor and Infanta Sofia are teenagers. An estimated flight to Sydney from Spain is about 19 hours, depending on weather conditions.
Regardless of what Prince William does, he cannot win. His contribution to the environment is a strong one. He loves his sport, but does he deserve to be criticised? I don’t think he does. Yes, he’s the Football Association’s president, but as Carribean Prince has rightly pointed out, most of the people criticising him were never interested in supporting the Lionesses before this year. Not to mention, The King and the British Prime Minister aren’t attending either. They’ve been attacked too, but not as much as William has.
Oi, critics! Give it a rest!
