The Royal Power Dynamic Meghan THOUGHT She’d Have Upon Marrying Harry

power dynamic

Imagine scoring a date with a royal, marrying them, and gaining a title. Meghan Markle thought she was living the ultimate dream after starring in a home movie (at her former best friend’s birthday party, no less) and writing about “the pomp and circumstance surrounding Princess Kate” on her blog. On 19 May 2018, she became Her Royal Highness Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex, a daughter-in-law to the future King Charles III. Eighteen months later, she’s crying in the Montecito mansion she and Harry have bought with his inheritance from Princess Diana and his paternal great-grandmother, The Queen Mother, though she has not been mentioned. She did not like the power dynamic where she was not on top.

When she married into the royal family, Meghan had all the help in the world, as clarified by Tom Bower and various media reports. However, she told Oprah that there were “no lessons on how to be royal” when she knew there were. She also said that she went to HR and was told they could not help her. However, there is no evidence to suggest this ever happened as Human Resources does NOT apply to royal family members.

Meghan was a member of the family, NOT an employee of the palace. Therefore, she could not get help for her mental health. Harry said he was ‘ashamed’ that he couldn’t get her help, despite being the patron of numerous mental health charities and co-founding Heads Together with Catherine and William. He could and wouldn’t because she didn’t ask for assistance. Harry only went along with the lie because he didn’t want to lose her or the kids.

The whole point of this article is to break down the power dynamic that Meghan believed she would receive when she married Harry. Moreover, this is not an opinion piece; it is an analysis.

Meghan’s Desire For Power Started With Her Friendships

Since she was a teenager, Meghan craved power. She dated a boy in high school whose father was a diplomat. This was a fact bought up in Tom Bower’s book, Revenge, which explored a large portion of Markle’s early life.

So, we need to ask; how did Meghan come to desire to be at the top of a power dynamic?

The love of power would’ve started in her childhood years. The first example occurred when she played princess with her friends at her best friend Ninaki Priddy’s birthday party as per Revenge. The kids bowed down to ‘Princess Meghan’ or ‘Queen Meghan’ or whatever she called herself. She might’ve been a child, but she was old enough to understand that the party was not hers to command.

Ninaki said in a 2017 Daily Mail article, which is reaffirmed in Revenge, that Meghan could be cold when she didn’t get what she wanted. One story that Tom Bower mentions is when a young Nikki wanted to look for insects in the garden, and Meghan didn’t, and they spent two hours with their backs to each other. Priddy always apologised first.

Moreover, Meghan wore the pants in the friendships she cultivated during her childhood. This continued into her adult years. She found friends with the same ambitions she did; to become famous. Jessica Mulroney was one of these people. Moreover, Mulroney would become famous for being Markle’s best friend, but it wouldn’t last, and she has been MIA for a couple of years.

We believe the relationship crumbled before or during Jessica’s run-in with the black influencer, Sasha Exeter.

Relationships Were Nothing But A Social Exercise For Meghan

When Meghan was old enough to begin dating, she dated guys who were profoundly caucasian. Of all her relationships, each one had a purpose; to elevate her social status. When she married Trevor Engelson, she thought his producer contacts would get her prominent acting roles. According to Tom Bower’s book, Markle did not want to marry Trevor but did so as she thought she could use the marriage to her advantage.

When she was cast in Suits, Meghan started erasing her previous life as a Z-list nobody and began cutting off those in her past. Ninaki was cut out when she took Trevor’s side. She was likely to have been put on ice at some point.

In his book, Tom Bower implies that Trevor wasn’t good enough (in Meghan’s eyes) to be the father of her children. Just this statement alone tells us that she was creating her power dynamic. She wanted a man with massive influence to be her baby daddy, presumably with a title. She ultimately got this with Harry as he is the son of the future King of England and grandson of the current Queen.

They don’t come much bigger than a prince from a foreign country. However, the ultimate prize would’ve been a future monarchy. What Meghan still doesn’t understand is Harry will never see the throne. So when the Cambridges eventually become the Prince and Princess of Wales, she and Harry will not get an elevation.

A Breakdown Of What Was Running Through Meghan’s Power Dynamic Hungry Mind

Judging by what Tom Bower wrote in his book, we know the following of what Meghan believed the power dynamic would be as a royal.

  • She thought it would be all tiaras and getting people bowing down to her.
  • Meghan’s star would rise as Diana’s, and everyone would love her.
  • They would be of the same or better social standing as Catherine.
  • Be able to exploit people to do what she wants.
  • To sit on the throne and get the other royals to follow her lead.

In Meghan’s mind, it was a fairytale. However, real monarchies do not function like those in fables. They don’t have relatives trying to usurp them á là Ella Enchanted with Sir Edgar, the brother of the king who he killed. It might be a work of fiction, but this is how Markle’s delusion appears to function. A rumour has been floating around that says she told someone, “We’re one plane away from the throne.”

Meghan doesn’t say anything without having some form of intent. Does she want to take the throne? It would seem that she does to some extent. However, she entered her victimhood mentality when she didn’t get what she wanted. Every time she speaks, she lobs a verbal grenade at the royals. The Cut was the perfect example where she said she didn’t have to sign anything and will continue to talk.

However, when she spoke to Oprah last year, she claimed she was silenced. So, which is it? Nothing Meghan makes sense. She’s playing games, and it’s tiresome. Bethenny Frankel was right when she said that Meghan needs to give it a rest.
