Is Percy Jackson On Netflix?

Percy Jackson, netflix

One question regarding the Percy Jackson franchise that keeps coming up is whether any media is on Netflix. The answer is no. The Percy Jackson films, The Lightning Thief and Sea of Monsters are on Disney+. In addition, the reboot television series Percy Jackson and the Olympians will also be broadcast on Disney+.

Disney owns the Percy Jackson screen media rights and will only ever be on associated platforms. Therefore, there will be no cross-platform switching. However, Netflix does have the rights to another Rick Riordan property; the Kane Chronicles.

There’s little to no information on the Kane Chronicles film trilogy with Netflix yet. But Rick did say a while ago that at least one of the scripts was in development. Unfortunately, we can’t find where we heard this, so we cannot verify. If we hear anything about this again, we’ll write a follow-up to this post detailing what we know. So be sure to be on the lookout for that.

The Kane Chronicles was not part of the deal with Disney and Fox, so it allowed Netflix to obtain the rights. So, don’t expect to see the Kane Chronicles/Percy Jackson crossover stories. The only way for this to happen is for Netflix to relinquish the rights to the films after they’re released to Disney/Fox. This is what happened with the Marvel-Netflix shows.

To conclude this conversation, let’s all cross our fingers that we get more Percy Jackson updates soon. It may be a while before we get trailers or promo material. After all, post-production started early last month, with Rick saying he had seen the director’s cuts for a few episodes.
