Female Droids In Star Wars Need Voices Too!

Female droids, star wars

How often have we seen female droids in Star Wars? Not a lot. Sure, we had Y-O and L0-LA59 (Lola) in Obi-Wan Kenobi. There have been others, such as R2-KT and L3-37, that have popped up across all forms of media.

But we’re here because we want female droids to be more prominent in Star Wars. Why? Well, female characters have a much more significant role now than they did in the original films. As a side note, check out Amy Ratcliffe’s book, Women of the Galaxy, for a glimpse at the canon ladies.

Despite sharing a similar role to their male counterparts, female droids should take more of a position equal to C-3PO and R2-D2, who were in every Skywalker Saga film with the occasional cameo in other projects.

Times are changing, and female roles in film and television are becoming more equal to those of men. It would be awesome to see a trilogy of Star Wars films where the lead droid is female. Yes, we got L3 in Solo, but she was only in one film before she was destroyed, so it doesn’t count.

Make Female Droids The Central Focus!

However, so many great female droids could pull off a starring role. It would be awesome if there were a television movie about young Princess Leia, Y-O, or Lola. After all, Lola was referenced in the book, The Princess and the Scoundrel, where Leia was thinking back to the things she lost when the Death Star blew Alderaan, and Lola was one of those things. This thought process came when she was engaged to Han.

In conclusion, there could be an animated adventure where a female droid is the main focus. Anything is possible. Let’s make that change.
