iCarly THEORY: Are Freddie And Carly About To Head Down The Aisle?

creddie

Come back to us, please Creddie!

Creddie. The original iCarly series had two main pairs, Carly and Freddie or Sam and Freddie (Seddie). However, the reboot series seems to be hinting at the idea of Creddie getting back together. We never watched the original show but we know bits and pieces from what we’ve read on the iCarly Fandom.

In the OG series, Carly and Freddie were only together for two weeks. This is if the Creddie page on the Fandom site is to be believed. The series creator Dan Schneider put out hints of the pairing ending up together. Miranda Cosgrove and Nathan Kress have both backed it. That’s what we’re going to be going over in this place. All the times in the reboot that have pointed towards a romance.

All Roads Point To Creddie! – The First Few Episodes

So, Carly and Freddie’s friendship is really cute to watch. She supports him being a single parent to 11-year-old daughter Millicent whom he adopted after his divorce from his second wife, Gwen. He is her technical producer on iCarly. Seems simple, right? Well, it kinda is but if you look a little deeper there are clues that form a much larger picture of what might be coming up.

In the first episode, ‘iStart Over‘, Freddie buys Carly a hamburger after she goes on a date with a guy who is obsessed with goat whey. As they’re talking, he tells her that she needs a partner to succeed with iCarly.

Freddie reminds her that she doesn’t need someone with her to succeed with the show. After the conversation turns to their friend Sam whom Freddie once dated, they question whether she’s okay with the biker gang she’s with. This is when Carly promotes Freddie to be her producer.

During episode two, ‘iHate Carly‘, Carly shields Freddie from being flirted with by Nora Dershlit who had been obsessed with them when they were teenagers. It’s noted that Carly looks jealous when Nora flirts with him. Also, he helps her out of the bunny costume she’d just been filming in.

There are various other moments within the episode where there’s an obvious attraction between Creddie that goes largely unnoticed. One moment that stands out is when Carly is talking to her secret hater, Justin and Freddie runs over and grabs her by the arm when he tells her that she has to talk Spencer out of driving to the hospital after he sprays himself in the face with pepper spray and tries to neutralise it with salt.

Millicent’s Approval – A Few Episodes Later

In episode 5, ‘iRobot Wedding‘, Freddie is the best man at Carly’s archnemesis Nevel Papperman’s wedding despite the two of them despising each other. However, the whole event is a scam to get Carly to marry Nevel. Papperman knows about Carly’s soft spot for Freddie and uses him to his advantage.

At the beginning of the episode when Nevel is being discussed, Spencer, Carly, and Freddie explain to Millicent who Nevel is and how he’s connected to them. Freddie looks annoyed when he says that Nevel tried to get Carly to kiss him which Carly says was many times.

In the aftermath of the episode which sees Carly convinced Nevel’s fiancée, Prunella is a robot, Freddie questions Millicent when she shoos away an actress who was paid to be a guest at the wedding as to why she doesn’t want him to fall in love. She explains that she doesn’t like seeing him sad.

Freddie explains to her that heartbreak is a way of life and he’s the parent so he should be protecting her, not the other way around. Seeing a dejected Carly standing by herself in the wedding dress Nevel had manufactured for her, Freddie asks his daughter if it’s okay for him to ask Carly to dance. She agrees after confusing his suggestion with the actress.

This says a lot as Freddie’s main priority is Millicent’s happiness as well as his own. We know that the 11-year-old disapproved of the sex worker who was posing as Spencer’s friend Ramona and of Nora Dershlit.

Carly And Millicent’s ‘Rivalry’

When Millicent and Carly interact for the first time (in the series) in ‘iStart Over’, Millicent is rather hostile towards Carly because she sees her as a social media rival. Carly points out that Millicent has two subscribers and that she’s one of them.

Over the course of the season, their relationship has become less hostile. In the episode ‘iLove Gwen‘, Millicent and Carly team up get to get Freddie and his second wife, Gwen back together after misinterpreting signs. Also, Millicent is well aware that her mother and Carly are friends despite their attempts to make out that they hate each other.

Finally, Freddie allows Spencer to babysit Millicent while he and Carly are on their ‘Girl’s Trip’.

iTake A Girl’s Trip

The most recent clues for a Creddie reunion is in the latest episode, ‘iTake a Girls Trip‘. When Harper’s cousin, Maeve suddenly resurfaces, Freddie takes her spot on a trip away with Carly but only after another friend, Brooke texts and says she can’t go either because her car was stolen.

When they arrive at the hotel, Freddie and Carly discover their ‘party room’ is actually the Honeymoon Suite. There’s a bunch of moment that is deemed romantic in tone including a rather awkward moment when a song about sex plays.

Not to mention, Carly mentions her ‘complicated’ dating history with Freddie.

What About That Trip Down The Aisle?

Now, there’s a reason why we’re talking about Creddie making that big trip down the aisle. The evidence is staring us directly in the face! Carly is seen in a wedding dress and Freddie dances with her Nevel’s wedding. Also, there was the whole thing in the honeymoon suite. Not to mention, Carly is much friendier with Millicent now. Could she be gearing up to become Millicent’s stepmother and Freddie’s third wife?

We’re just going to have to wait and see what happens.
