A galaxy far, far, away is vast. There are trillions of planets in Star Wars, and no one, not even Anakin Skywalker, has been to all of them. So as Star Wars Celebration looms towards us, we thought we’d go over five of these planets.

Please note that all information in this post is from canon only.

The first of our Star Wars planets is one prequel fans know quite well. For about a thousand generations, Coruscant was the central hub for politics in the galaxy. This changed after Sheev Palpatine dismantled the senate during the Imperial era. During the New Republic, the government moved locations every few years.

During the Galactic Republic era, Coruscant housed not just the Republic senate but also was home to the Jedi Temple, which, according to Legend, was built over an old Sith shrine. The Temple was later converted into the Imperial Palace after Order 66.

When Princess Leia first mentioned Alderaan in A New Hope, fans clamoured for an appearance. Finally, they got their wish when the planet made a cameo during the final minutes of Revenge of the Sith when Bail Organa meets with his wife, Queen Breha, and introduces them to their adoptive newborn daughter, Leia.

Since then, Alderaan has appeared in animation during The Clone Wars and the Obi-Wan Kenobi series.

A jungle planet which was a location that was a battleground during the Clone Wars conflict, Felucia was the home of the Commerce Guild. It is also a major trade route. When the Clone Wars comes to a screeching halt, Jedi Master Aayla Secura is gunned down by her clones here.

Naboo

One of the most famous planets from the Star Wars prequel era is Naboo, the home of both Padmé Amidala and Sheev Palpatine. The planet was also placed under a blockade when Padmé was Queen. It was also the place where she and Anakin married when the Clone Wars started. Moreover, she was later buried on her homeworld.

The Empire Strikes Back introduced the audience to Hoth. It is where Luke was hung upside in a cave and almost devoured by a wampa. It’s also where one of the most iconic scenes in the entire film takes place when a ship trips a walker over by tying its legs with tow cables.
