Domestic Violence is a grave allegation to throw at anyone, and Bree should know this. After all, she is in a domestic violence situation with her husband, Jacob. In tonight’s episode of Home and Away, Ziggy is taken to the hospital after she falls down the stairs at Salt.
Ziggy, who is heavily pregnant, is given the all-clear after a few hiccups, including additional bleeding. Her partner, Dean, is a bundle of nerves and anxiety. Bree notices that he’s aggravated and highly strung and speaks in a way that reminds her of Jacob.
She [Bree] then overhears Ziggy crying and apologising to Dean for worrying him. It sounds like she’s pleading with him. This pushes the doc a little too close to home.
Bree notices a bruise on Ziggy’s leg when she checks on her. She questions her only to get a confusing answer. The doctor tells her that if she ever needs help, she can ask for it, much to the expectant mum’s confusion. Upon leaving the room, Bree calls the police station. She gets onto Cash and says she wants to report a domestic violence case.
A Misunderstanding?
While Bree has every right to be concerned, she doesn’t know Dean that well or Ziggy, for that matter. Moreover, Dean is known for having a short fuse, but he’s never been violent towards a woman. Ever. If that had been the case, his ex-girlfriend Amber wouldn’t have allowed him to have contact with their son Jai. Also, he has no history, that we know of, with domestic Violence. If it were true, his mother, Karen, would’ve said something. Furthermore, she would never put up that BS from any man, let alone her son.
Anyone watching Dean over the years will know that he gets very protective of those he cares for if they’re in danger. Also, at least he’s not a single dad like Liam is made out to be on The Bold and the Beautiful. Or use the same buzzwords. Anyway, he would never treat a woman the way his father, Rick Booth, treats women. He cheated on Mackenzie’s mother with Karen and got them both pregnant roughly simultaneously. Who knows how he treats his current wife?
With Bree, she has been explaining away her injuries, yet she thinks Ziggy is being abused and calls the cops on Dean. An article by Back to the Bay explains that after Ziggy blasts Bree, she [Bree] talks to her flame Remi who says she needs to be careful not to apply her own situation to Ziggy and Dean’s.
Remi Makes Bree Realise Her Mistake
Bree starts having second thoughts after this conversation. She realises her mistake when she hears Dean and Mac talking and sees the evident love and concern he has for Ziggy and their baby. As actress Juliet Goodwin, who plays Bree, mentions in the TV Week article that is the basis of the BttB post, states, Bree realises that her wanting to help Ziggy is a personal cry for help.
Juliet also says that Dean is NOT Jacob and does love Ziggy. He would never do anything to harm her. If anything, Ziggy would kick his ass to Mars. Moreover, it gives Bree the courage to call the police on Jacob, but will she be able to end the abuse? Will Dean get off the allegations put forth against him? Only time will tell what happens.
