Bree Cameron and Heather Fraser might be new to Summer Bay, but they’ve been given two compelling storylines. First, Bree has been given a domestic violence plotline involving her husband, Jacob. Heather, meanwhile, waltzed into the diner one day, looking for Roo, who she had hired as a tutor. She instantly became obsessed with ruining Marilyn’s life. But, little does anyone realise there’s a big secret; the mystery young blonde is Maz’s daughter. To make it worse, four of the Bay’s most beloved residents end up caught in a crime spree, which is led by a lust for revenge.

There is so much we’re covering in this article, and if you didn’t see the warnings already, there are spoilers, and there will be talk of domestic abuse. Initially, this was only about Bree and her situation, but we figured we’d hit both topics simultaneously. So let’s start with the domestic violence conversation.

Bree’s Domestic Violence Pain

She might be bright and bubbly on the outside with an unwavering love of surfing, but Bree Cameron, Summer Bay’s newest doctor, is hiding a massive secret. She’s the victim of domestic violence inflicted by her long-distance husband, Jacob, who has suddenly shown up out of the blue.

Bree’s new friendship with Remi is the first thing Jacob harkens onto when he shows up. However, he doesn’t like the muso flirting with his wife, and he becomes jealous when she greets colleague and resident paramedic Xander.

While the situation doesn’t seem too over the top at first, it becomes clear that there is domestic violence when we see Bree with injuries to her face, which she later covers up. However, Remi has a clue that something is going on when he calls Bree, who tells him not to contact her. However, when he arrives at the hospital, he gets another strong sense, and she brushes him off.

A colleague pokes his head into Bree’s office to tell her that Jacob is looking for her. She orders Remy to stay put while she deals with her husband. Now, love or loathe Remi, but he is a nice guy who wouldn’t hurt a fly. After all, his two best friends are women. Sure, he loves the ladies, but he’s not violent.

Remy Isn’t The Only One With Worries About Jacob And The Darkness Behind Closed Doors

Jacob’s behaviour with Bree doesn’t go unnoticed. Mac and Xander see something is off too. Remi tells them about who Jacob is, with Mac calling the guy “intense.” Also, Back to the Bay noted something we missed; Jacob’s reception towards Remy is cold. Yeah, we see it now.

Remi tells Xander that Bree freaked out that Jacob had just shown up without telling her. Little does he know that behind closed doors, Jacob threatens Bree, and after we see her injuries, we get the bomb; he’s hit her before. In episodes to come, we’re to find out more about what has been going on, and we hope that the story is resolved with Jacob’s arrest.

Bree is a fantastic character, but to see her being brutalised by a man who is supposed to love her, is just sad.

Heather And Her Dangerous Crime Spree

Moving over to Heather and her arrival has been driving Marilyn crazy for weeks. Her actions have made her friends believe that she has gone off her medication. Maz’s friendship with Roo was threatened when Heather tried getting her tutor to turn on her.

Heather has seduced Nikau into her bed, and while Nik isn’t stupid and he knows something is going on. However, he can’t help the pull towards the blonde. We’ve known about the familial ties between Maz and Heather for a while, but on the show, only a handful of people understand.

The story Heather has weaved for Roo is that she slept with a married man and got pregnant and had to give away her baby. However, we learned pretty quickly that the tale was Marilyn’s. As time continues to wear on, it is becoming apparent to at least the audience that Heather is increasingly unstable.

She returns to the Bay and manages to lure Marilyn to an old estate house that she claims used to be her old boarding school. When Heather has Maz where she wants her, she knocks her out with a candle holder. Meanwhile, Leah, Irene, Roo, and Alf all get invites to a brunch that they think Marilyn has planned for them.

The Next Morning

When Marilyn awakes from being knocked out, she finds herself tied in a chair. Heather’s crime spree has just begun. Could being render unconscious be considered domestic violence? In a way it could as Heather attacked her own mother.

Alf, Roo, Leah and Irene arrive at the house and enter, just as Heather is giving Marilyn her villain non-apology. They have no idea they’re walking into a trap. In the next few episodes, we’re going to see what happens. We assume the action will take place tomorrow during the triple billing of episodes. It could spill into next week as well if necessary.

What’s To Come In The Crime Spree?

From the promo that aired at the end of tonight’s episode, we see Cash running through the house and Marilyn being pulled around by Heather before we see her in the back of a police car. We’ve heard that part of Heather’s crime spree included killing her adoptive mother, cutting her up and putting her the freezer. We’re not sure how true that is, though as we cannot find the information. However, an article by Back to the Bay has teased that Rose and Cash go looking for an murderer. The article also says that Xander will be involved with the storyline.

What’s exciting is that it’s been a while since we’ve seen a psycho in Summer Bay. Also, we don’t think any of the main cast dies. So, the dead body or the parts that are allegedly found match up with the murder narrative.
