2022 has been a trying time for the British Royal Family. First, it has been a year since they farewelled Prince Philip, and then, seventeen months on, they lose their steadfast matriarch, Her Majesty The Queen. The monarch, who reigned for 70 years, went downhill healthwise after the passing of her beloved husband, and it has been rumoured she was suffering from Bone Marrow Cancer.
This is not the first time this has been rumoured. When the Queen died in early September, Lady Colin Campbell said in a video that this was what the monarch suffered from when she passed. Gyles Brandreth, who had connections to Prince Philip, has added the alleged Bone Marrow Cancer diagnosis to his new book, Elizabeth: An Intimate Portrait, according to the Today Show.
The Palace has not acknowledged the diagnosis, says Russell Myers, the royal editor for the Daily Mirror in the UK. He brought this up during his chat on the Today Show (link above). Myers also states that it would not be something that would be published in the Mirror.
Another point that Myers made is that Brandreth did not get the information about the (alleged) Bone Marrow Cancer diagnosis from an official palace source. It’s possible it came from Lady C’s camp. It is also unclear how she ended up with the information.
(Alleged) Bone Marrow Cancer Not On Death Certificate
The Queen’s death certificate was made public in late September, as per news.com.au. The cause of death is filled out as ‘Old Age.’ Will the Palace confirm what Lady C and Gyles have said? Probably not. While King George VI and Princess Margaret’s causes of death were documented, the Queen’s passing doesn’t need to be known. At least for now.
If it were a personal battle, it should stay that way. Yes, the Queen was frail and had lost weight, but it could have been anything. We should not be jumping to conclusions. While Her Majesty was a public figure, we do not need to know the inner workings of her private life.
