Cho Chang was Harry Potter’s first girlfriend he started dating in his fifth year at Hogwarts. A Ravenclaw one or two years older, Chang was a member of Dumbledore’s Army who dated Cedric Diggory before his untimely death during the final TriWizard task. She would also date Michael Corner and Roger Davies, two Ravenclaw students. She survived the Second Wizarding War and married a muggle.
Chang was also a skilled Quidditch player and a fan of the professional Quidditch team, Tutshill Tornados. Upon being sorted into Ravenclaw in her first year, Cho became friends with fellow Ravenclaw classmate Marietta Edgecombe.
Cho Chang Meets Harry And Cedric’s Death
Cho Chang met Harry during her fourth-year Quidditch match, Gryffindor vs. Ravenclaw. Harry caught on to her strategy to catch the Golden Snitch. But then, Dementors appeared on the pitch, leading Harry to cast a Patronus to deflect them.
During her fifth year, Cho witnessed Cedric’s name being pulled out of the Goblet of Fire for the TriWizard Tournament. Harry’s name was also removed from the Goblet. Cedric asked Cho to the Yule Ball, and she said yes. Harry got to her later, and she had to turn him down. Around the time of the dance, she and Cedric started dating.
When many Hogwarts students refused to support Harry, Cho showed solidarity with him by refusing to wear one of Draco Malfoy’s Support Cedric badges.
Cho was devastated when Harry returned to Hogwarts with Cedric’s body. She openly cried during the memorial.
Mourning Cedric
Cho started dating Harry during her sixth year, but her heart still mourned Cedric. She was one of the few people who did believe Harry and Dumbledore’s claim of Voldemort’s return. She also attempted several times to ask Potter the circumstances behind her late boyfriend’s murder.
Hermione Granger, one of Harry’s best friends, invites her to join Dumbledore’s Army. Little did Cho Chang realise Hermione had jinxed the DA sign-up parchment. Marietta gave the group up to Dolores Umbridge, which made the word SNEAK be written across her nose in pimples.
Cho and Harry broke up when he defended Hermione’s actions, and Chang criticised her to Harry’s face.
