Who Is Sabé In Star Wars?

Sabé, Star Wars

Padmé Amidala is one of the most recognisable characters in the Star Wars prequels, beginning with The Phantom Menace. She was the wife of Anakin Skywalker and the biological mother of Luke Skywalker and Leia Organa. However, has anyone ever thought about the women who helped her during her time as Queen of Naboo? In this post, we will discuss Sabé, the woman who was Amidala’s lead decoy.

We will be discussing canon material, not the Star Wars Legends stuff.

Sabé was one of the many young women who saved Padmé as a handmaiden during her short life. Like many ladies, she changed her name to honour her mistress. She was born Tsabin on Naboo to a family of Hallikset players. Moreover, Sabé studied music and eventually decided to sign on to be trained by the Royal Naboo Security Forces on the recommendation of Quarsh Panaka.

She was assigned as a handmaiden to Queen Padmé Amidala after completing her training. Therefore, Sabé researched the candidates running for Queen and discovered she and Amidala looked alike. She became Amidala’s first handmaiden.

Sabé’s Loyalty Leads to A Deeper Investigation

Sabé was incredibly loyal to Padmé, even after her tenure as Queen ended. Amidala assigned her to free Shmi Skywalker from slavery. Unfortunately, the mission failed, as she had already been freed before Sabé could return to Tatooine. Skywalker’s saviour, unbeknownst to anyone, was Cliegg Lars, who married Shmi and gave her a stepson, Owen.

After Amidala’s death during childbirth in 19BBY, Sabé always sensed that there was more to her friend’s demise than what was put out to the public.

Furthermore, Sabé put together a group called The Amidalans, who fought for answers. One of the members of this group was Dormé, another handmaiden. In conclusion, the group even worked alongside Darth Vader, formerly Anakin Skywalker, Padmé’s husband and the father of her twins.
