Andrew Garfield is one of the most underrated actors to have ever played Spider-Man. However, that is not the reason we’re here. We wanted to review which webhead he portrayed and which enemies he went up against in the three movies he has been in as the character.
So, Andrew played the Amazing Spider-Man version of Peter Parker. Like every other version of Peter, he was raised by his Uncle Ben and Aunt May. Richard and Mary Parker’s parents died, leading him to live with his relatives. At least he didn’t have to deal with the MCU’s Flash Thompson, who is a massive Spidey fanboy.
Unlike other versions of Peter Parker, Andrew’s version is in love with Gwen Stacy. Due to her association with him, Harry Osborn, as the Green Goblin, throws her to her demise during a crisis prompting Peter to save her, but her neck snaps during the rescue, leading to her death.
Peter’s trauma was never fully resolved until he appeared, alongside Tobey Maguire Peter in Tom Holland’s final outing as his Peter Parker in Spider-Man No Way Home. After MJ, Holland Spidey’s girlfriend almost dies, the Andrew Spider-Man does what he couldn’t for Gwen; save her. He even helps his fellow Peters stop the villains, including Sandman, Doc Ock and Willem De Foe’s Norman Osborn.
The Garfield Spider-Man breaks down in tears leading MJ to ask if he’s okay. It’s just a shame there are no Spider-Women on screen yet. MJ would’ve been a good candidate for that group, as would Emma Stone’s Gwen.
