What Is An Empousa In Percy Jackson?

Percy Jackson Empousa

The Percy Jackson universe has a lot of strange creatures, but none are as strange as the Empousai (Empousa: for a single). These are beautiful women who are the equivalent of a modern-day vampire in the world of Greek Mythology.

An Empousa becomes an adversary to Percy Jackson in three adventures: Battle of the Labyrinth, The Last Olympian and House of Hades. In two of the three books, that creature is Kelli, who, in Battle of the Labyrinth, is introduced alongside Tammi when Percy attends Goode High School on the recommendation of his soon-to-be stepfather, Paul Blofis.

An Empousa is a beautiful woman, but they are also servants of the goddess of magic, Hecate. They feed off men’s blood. They are seductive. Their actual forms consist of red eyes that glow, white skin, flaming hair, a prosthetic leg made from celestial bronze and a donkey leg. Oh, and fangs. We cannot forget those.

The Appearances Of The Empousa Kelli

Kelli and Tammi were pretending to be cheerleaders who were actually there to kill demigods. Percy Jackson, with the assistance of his new friend, Rachel Elizabeth Dare. He manages to use his sword, Riptide, to kill Tammi, but Kelli gets away, going up in flames as she does so.

Also, Kelli pops up in Daedalus’s workshop alongside the ghost of Minos, Daedalus’s rival. Nico Di Angelo is also present and is disillusioned. Annabeth kills her.

During The Last Olympian, an Empousa is seen holding the arm of Prometheus as they walk towards Percy’s flag of truce. It is referenced that this Empousa was let out of Pandora’s Box.

Kelli pops up in House of Hades as part of a group of Empousai.
