What Do We Know About The Syndulla Clan?

Syndulla, twi'lek, star wars

The Syndulla clan – Cham Syndulla is one of the most famous freedom fighters on Ryloth. But how much do we know about his family? We’ve met his daughter, Hera and her astromech, C1-10P (or Chopper), in Star Wars Rebels. During the first season of The Bad Batch, we meet Cham’s wife, Eleni, before her death.

This post will detail what we know about the Syndulla Clan so far. We’ve also mentioned Hera, Jacen and Kanan in our post on the confirmed Ahsoka characters.

Who Are The Members Of The Syndulla Clan?

The Syndulla clan consists of freedom fighter Cham Syndulla, his wife Eleni, who perished sometime after Order 66 started, their unnamed son, and their daughter, Hera. The couple’s son died while he was a child. Before or after the Battle of Yavin, Hera gave birth to a son, Jacen Syndulla, whose father is Kanan Jarrus.

Jarrus died protecting the Ghost crew and was a former Jedi Padawan who escaped Order 66. Despite his death and not being married to Hera, he is an honorary member of the Syndulla clan as he is Jacen’s father.

Also, we should include Chopper, given he has been with Hera since she was a young girl, and she considers him family.

How Did Certain Members Die?

Eleni died when the Empire invaded Ryloth. However, it is not specified when her death occurred. According to Eleni’s Wookieepedia page, she perished between 19BBY – 12BBY. Therefore, given she is alive when Cham and Hera meet the Bad Batch, her death would be after this event.

It is unknown what happened to Cham and Eleni’s son or what his name is. We only know of his existence because Grand Admiral Thrawn mentions him being a part of Eleni’s Kalikori. Hera has never mentioned him to our knowledge, and neither has Cham.

Finally, we reach Kanan. He attempted to use the Force to hold back a blaze started by the Imperials, which killed him. Though, it gave his family enough time to escape. Unbeknownst to him, Hera was pregnant with their son, who she would name Jacen.
