My Thoughts On Queen Camilla

Queen Camilla

I was a child when Diana, Princess of Wales, was killed in a Parisian car crash in mid-1997. I have no memories of when this occurred. As I grew older, I remember reading stories about the car crash and the wild conspiracies that came from it. I believed none of it. I was raised to consider facts. What’s more, is Diana wasn’t killed solely by the paparazzi. Her death was caused by several factors; a drunk driver who was speeding. She was not wearing her seatbelt, and the paps did nothing to render assistance as she lay dying. All they cared about was the money shots. I wrote a piece last year about one of the people who worked on the Oprah Interview being involved with a program that almost showed photos of Diana dying. Anyway, you’re probably wondering what this has to do with “Queen Camilla.” Let me explain.

I am not for or against Queen Camilla becoming reality. In all honesty, I don’t really care. If Her Majesty wishes it, that’s good enough for me. I’m not going to slam Camilla for something that happened thirty years ago. Here’s the thing, and I have always believed this. Diana was ill-suited to be Charles’ wife. She got thrown into the deep end of a pool without learning to swim first. I am also NOT saying that Camilla could’ve done a better job.

Being a royal is hard if you don’t follow the rules that have been in place for decades. Charles was more experienced in life than Diana was. She was only just out of her teenage years when they married. When they tied the knot, Diana had just turned 20 while Charles was 33 or something close to that.

Queen Camilla Will Not Have Power

So, I wanted to address to put to rest the harping of those who think Queen Camilla will have power. She will NOT share her husband’s power. The monarch is the born royal. In this case, Prince Charles. Camilla will be the consort. Think of it as similar to Prince Philip. He had no power and walked behind his wife. The only time she walked behind him was at his funeral as a sign of love and respect. Camilla will be in the same vote. The same applies to Catherine when William becomes king.

I wrote the other day about Harry once saying his stepmother was a “wonderful woman.” You can see in photos that she does make him happy. Yes, Diana was in love with Charles. But he was not in love with her as he was with Camilla. Deep down, we’re sure the Princess of Wales knew this. After all, she knew about his affair, as did William, as Richard Kay pointed out in a recent Daily Mail article. Harry, being just a child of twelve, had no idea about his father’s affair until later.

If It Ain’t Broke, Don’t Fix It

I have a motto that I live by, and many others do as well. If it’s not broke, don’t fix it. The same applies to when the Queen says something about the Queen Camilla thing. She knows that much of the public wants Charles to step aside and to allow William to take over when she passes.

While I don’t necessarily want Charles on the throne, I respect the Queen’s decision not to cave to public pressure. She’s always been about tradition, and she’s not going to allow the public to dictate to her. Don’t get me wrong. The public will tolerate Charles as king and think they’d do it for Her Majesty’s sake rather than Charles’.

People have not forgotten the Diana debacle, and that’s fine. If they want to hold onto something that happened over thirty years ago, then that’s okay too. Everyone is allowed to have their opinions.

This post is just me expressing my views on the Queen Camilla sitch, so please. Be nice to others who do not share your thoughts.
