OPINION: Why Does Everything Come Down To Race?

racism; concealing; race

[CAUTION: This Post Is Written In The First Person]

Meghan Markle knows how to stir the pot. In her eyes, black culture will protect her from criticism because she has black blood. In an engaging live chat between Megxiteer YouTubers, PDina, Sue Smith, and Michelle of the Royal Daily Tea, they made some interesting comments about how Meghan shields herself behind black women, whom she knows will defend her because she classifies as black.

Now, I’m not putting this article in the Chronicles of Harkle category because I am discussing the topic of black culture overall. Meghan is only an example we’re using. So, just for the record, I’m not racist. Yes, I am caucasian, but I have known black people all my life. Some of my favourite celebrities are black, and my childhood best friend was a person of colour.

Also, I do not see colour. I see personality and character, and I could care less what a person looks like. I’ve been called racist, and I know PDina, Sue, and Michelle have. PDina is a woman of colour who has been called a racist by other black people because she doesn’t like Meghan.

Flawed Black Culture

Black culture is just as flawed as white culture. I’ve also spoken before about how black people are just as racist as those of us who are caucasian. Another topic I’ve discussed is what makes a person “black.” What is essential, in my OPINION, is that there is more to someone than just their skin tone. So what if a person is black? You don’t have to support them because they look like you. PDina has said this a million times in her videos, and Sue and Michelle, who are both caucasian, agreed. A person’s character is what matters.

However, woke culture is why people scream racism when someone doesn’t agree with a black person’s opinion. So, no. This doesn’t seem right; it doesn’t matter what anyone says. I’m a racist in the eyes of the black people who believe Meghan’s victimhood of racism and abuse. Also, this is something that Candace Owens has spoken about multiple times. Let’s not forget what happened with Moses Ingram after Obi-Wan Kenobi’s first two episodes was released.

Meghan Doesn’t Know The First Thing About Racism.

Meghan doesn’t know the first thing about racism. Tom Bower says this in his new book, Revenge: Meghan, Harry and the war between the Windsors. It was implied that the only act of racism she might’ve seen was when her mother, Doria Ragland, was racially abused by another driver. Now, I don’t know if this story is true. If I remember correctly, this was one of the stories she told on The Tig. I cannot remember exactly where the story came from, but this is where I THINK it came from.

So, jumping back over actual racism, imagine the reactions of some of Suits’ white fans when they learned that Meghan was biracial when Wendell Pierce was cast to play her father. PDina mentioned this in her video on the fourth chapter of Bower’s book. These so-called fans allegedly said they no longer thought Markle was “hot” because she was biracial. This is actual racism.

I don’t know whether the abuse was aimed at Meghan, but if it was, she didn’t complain. It should be noted that Meghan’s character, Rachel Zane, was biracial like her portrayer is. Aaron Korsh, the creator of Suits, mentions in Tom Bower’s book that he had no clue Meghan was mixed-race when she was cast. He only learned this fact later. Also, she views race and hate differently from most people.

Other Biracial Celebrities

I do want to point out that there are tons of people who are biracial and don’t look it. One example is American rapper J.Cole, according to an article by Buzzfeed. A couple of examples include New Zealand director Taika Waititi and American Singer-Songwriter Olivia Rodrigo. Unless you delve deeper into their history, you’d know this information, but looking at them doesn’t give any indication on the surface.

A Few Words From Zendaya

American Actress-Singer (and Tom Holland’s girlfriend), Zendaya, made an interesting comment about being mixed-race. Here’s a snippet from an interview she did with E! Online in 2015:

Obviously, both my parents are American and were born in America, but America is such a melting pot — everyone’s from everywhere. The only people who are native are Native Americans. So everyone’s an immigrant in a sense.

Zendaya on being biracial

There is more to this quote:

My mom has roots in Germany and Ireland, and my dad is African American. There’s a big disconnect with African American people because we’re not able to trace our roots as far back, so I think it was really important to my father to take the time to find out where he really comes from. I have that pride in knowing that I’m an African American. I think when you develop pride in where you’re from then you have more respect and understanding in terms of where other people are from also. No one’s just white, and no one’s just Black.”

A continuation from the E! Online quote from Zendaya

In a roundtable by The Hollywood Reporter, Zendaya commented about being a light-skinned woman of colour.

I also think it’s important being a light-skinned woman to recognize my privilege in that sense as well and make sure that I’m not taking up space where I don’t need to.

What True Racism Looks Like

What was surprising, the Buzzfeed article I linked earlier actually has Meghan as one of the entries. If you want an actual instance of racism, look no further than the attacks on Star Wars actress Moses Ingram. When she signed on to play Reva, the Third Sister, in the Ewan McGregor-led Obi-Wan Kenobi mini-series, she was warned by Lucasfilm about the racism from some members of the fandom. When the racism got out of hand after the show’s premiere, Ewan McGregor himself came out swinging at the toxic fans who were so horrible to Moses.

However, the studio didn’t expect John Boyega to be racially abused when he joined the franchise in 2014 to play Stormtrooper Finn in 2015’s Episode VII: The Force Awakens. There had been limited racism towards other black actors, such as Billy Dee Williams, who appeared as Lando Calrissian in the original trilogy, and Samuel L Jackson in the prequel trilogy.

John recently said that Lucasfilm had gotten better at dealing with racism. The same with Kelly Marie Tran, who played Rose Tico in 2017’s Episode VIII: The Last Jedi. She was bullied by racist fans so severely that she quit social media.

Have The Black People Making These “Racism” Comments About Been Vilified?

To end this article, I want to challenge any woke black person who believes Meghan because “she’s black.” Have you yourselves been racially vilified? If you have, when did this happen? What proof do you have? Can you tell me what is wrong with calling out a person for actions that have nothing to do with race? I bet you cannot do that.

Also, Thomas Markle debunked a ton of claims his daughter has put out in public.
