The Bold And The Beautiful: Mike Actually Has A Conscience

Sheila’s buddy, Mike Guthrie, has a brain and thinks about the bigger picture. Okay, today’s Bold episode might’ve mostly put us on edge, but Sheila’s righthand man, Mike, surprised us. Of course, we’re not going to focus on the fallout from Carter and Paris’ aborted wedding. The event alone was enough to make us want to rip our hair out by the roots. Anyway, onto the reason we’re here.

So, Mike made his grand reappearance a few weeks ago when he broke Sheila out of prison. Before his entrance, we had no idea the man existed until we looked into who he was. Then, we forgot about him until he appeared in today’s episode. Guthrie made a small appearance when Sheila took his car and ran Li off the road, presumedly killing her. Mike also understands that evil never wins.

We assume Li is dead as we’ve heard the actress who plays her, Naomi Matsuda, has allegedly finished filming. So we’ll hopefully have an answer for this soon.

Also, Jack is returning in search of his missing estranged wife, and he goes to Thomas and Taylor for help. Finally, we notice with Mike that he is unhappy with Sheila when she casually hints that she offed her son’s adoptive mother. He also notes that Li was the only person who could keep Finn alive, especially when he flatlines.

Flashbacks

What we thought was fun were the past flashbacks to Mike and Sheila. While loyal to her, he did appear to double-cross her as she sics a dog on him. How anyone can overcome, that is beyond us. Anyway, the guy’s got a soft spot for the madwoman unbelievable, but each to their own.

One of the entertaining parts of seeing Sheila and Mike interact is that he is willing to call her out on her BS. He knows that his loyalty is the reason he is safe and not a victim in the ground. What we thought was interesting was when he questioned her on whether her killing of Li and shooting Steffy was justified.

Li’s death might not have been planned, but it certainly wasn’t “an accident.” When Sheila pulled over to watch the vehicle after she rammed into it, it went up in flames; she had the same evil smirk on her face that Thomas did when he did a similar thing to Emma Barber. There’s much creepiness going on here.

Medical Supplies

Mike also argues with Sheila about getting medical supplies from the prison for Finn. This was interesting for a couple of reasons. One, isn’t there CCTV cameras inside the prison? Indeed one saw Mike smuggling Sheila out. Secondly, wouldn’t it be more likely for Mike to get caught wherever Sheila wants him to go? Does he even work in the prison system like he claims, or was it just a ploy to get Sheila out? It could be any number of things.

Mike is aware that him helping Sheila could potentially mean being sent to prison if they’re caught. Moreover, he’s not stupid when his BFF tells him that her shooting of Finn and killing of Li is an accident.
