Camden Continues To Flood

The rain won’t go away. The Camden floods have seen even more damage as the small south-west Sydney town goes underwater for a fourth time in a 12-month period. As mentioned in an article by a local newspaper, the Illawarra Mercury, written by journalists Kayla Osbourne and Jess Layt, the floods that happened last weekend have been the worst of the four.

Camden has always been a fiercely passionate community. The townspeople have endured so much, and to fight against more Camden floods after having just completed the clean-up from the weather event from a couple of months ago, shows their strength.

We’re proud members of the Camden community living nearby the Wollondilly area. We frequent the town a lot and have seen what the people are capable of. This isn’t a town that stands and does nothing. Instead, when something happens, they band together and help each other. It shows courage.

The Camden floods are destructive, but the people are always prepared if something like this happens. We went grocery shopping this morning, and the usual route was still cut off, so we had to drive the long way through Mount Hunter to get into Narellan. That trip was about an hour. Coming back, however, was about two hours because of the traffic buildup. As there the regular routes people take closed due to the flooding.

Over The Bridge – Camden Floods

As you can see in the footage we shot from the passenger side of the car from the Camden bypass; the paddocks below were still underwater. But, don’t worry; someone was driving the car. The rain is usually a good thing, especially when we’ve been through a drought. However, too much rain is not a good thing as it takes forever for everything to dry out again. We still have areas here at home where it’s still wet from previously.

This would be one of the biggest natural disasters to hit South-West Sydney after the 2019-2020 bushfires. The fired claimed the lives of several volunteer firefighters.
