Paris and Zoe’s mother, Grace Buckingham, is interfering in her younger daughter’s love life, but for what reason? We’ve addressed this, but what is Grace trying to achieve? Is she trying to relive the life she wanted but didn’t get when she married Reese? It’s possible, given her obsession with attempting to get her youngest daughter to be with Zende.
Grace had made it clear that she hates Carter after what happened with Zoe. She views him as being a player who hurts the women he dates. This could not be further from the truth. He’s a sweet (and incredibly handsome) guy who gets involved with women he knows he can’t have. Quinn is the perfect example of this.
Carter’s involvement with Zoe and the aftermath is his then-fiancée’s fault. She wanted Zende to be her backup option in case, their [Zoe and Carter] relationship didn’t work out. Luckily, Zende saw what she was doing and didn’t want to be a part of the scheme. She was upset that he wasn’t blind to her act, but she sucked it up.
However, when Zende started showing interest in Paris, Zoe tried to send her sister packing. That is until she stood up to her and told her where to get off.
Grace And Her Obsession Could Have To Do With Her Failed Marriage
It’s no secret that Grace and Reese’s marriage crashed and burned when the girls were young. While it hasn’t been explored that much, we have reason to believe that Reese’s gambling addiction and possible infidelities are what broke the relationship up.
We know from Reese’s time before he skipped town and ended up in prison for kidnapping and selling Beth Spencer, he had two known relationships. The first was with Flo, and the other was Taylor. However, Grace hasn’t been mentioned until recently. She only came up when Paris told Zende how much she missed her mother.
Zende then invites Grace to Los Angeles. Sounds okay, right? Well, it would be, but it appears that she has another agenda outside of getting a new job in LA and seeing her daughter. Grace may be in LA to ensure that one of her daughters marries a wealthy man. Since Zoe failed to do so when she failed to snag Zende or even Thomas, Grace possibly held up hope Paris could come through.
The reason outside of her selfishness could be as simple she wants her girls to have what she didn’t, a happy and fulfilled marriage. Reese was probably a lousy husband, hence the divorce. Though, if it weren’t that bad, Grace would not have kept his last name.
Does Zoe And Paris’ Mama Want A Piece Of The Wealthy Action?
So, we know that Zende is part of the Forrester clan, who are incredibly well-known, powerful, and of course, wealthy. After all, his adoptive parents are Kristen and Tony, Eric’s daughter and son-in-law, respectively. Could Grace want Paris to marry Zende for his money?
It’s possible. This wouldn’t be the first time. Something like this has occurred. Brooke and Katie both married wealthy men. As did Donna. Little known fact. Donna and Brooke have both been married to Eric. Meanwhile, Brooke and Katie have both been married to Bill Spencer. However, all three have never been married to the same man.
Anyway, going back to Grace. It should be noted that she doesn’t appear to know that Zende was married to Nicole Avant. However, no one seems to know the reason behind the divorce. Doctor Buckingham 2.0 likely wants that wealthy tie to the Forresters. While she’d never marry into the family herself, she would be linked if one of her daughters married into the family.
Now, this almost did happen when Thomas conned Zoe into a fake wedding just to get Hope to marry him instead. This entire situation is what pushed Zoe over to Carter in the first place. Also, this was before Paris even showed up.
Paris’ Hand Cannot Be Forced
From all the reading we’ve been doing lately on what’s to come, it appears Grace may try to force Paris into marrying Zende. To us, this reeks of desperation. It’s easy to see why the doc would do this. But she does realise that it’s her daughter’s decision whether she wants to marry the guy? At the moment, she’s in the dark about what her mother is doing.
We all know by now that when Paris wants something, she goes after it. Currently, her eyes are squarely on Carter. She wants him, despite him trying to distance himself, given Grace’s threats to expose him to Zende and the Forresters.
However, Grace doesn’t appear to have thought her plan to force Paris to marry Zende through. Paris has never let anyone tell her what to do. When Zoe ordered her out of town so she could sink her claws into Zende, Paris stood her ground. Though, what will her reaction be when she discovers what Grace wants her to do? Will she give her mother a piece of her mind like she did her sister?
