Update time! We have a new look and new features to go over! We’re so excited!
Hi everyone! So, I know its been a while since I posted an update on the blog but I’ve finally got one for you! Well… a few and its all about new features and the new look!
New Look
So, you’ve probably noticed by now that we have a whole new look! I’ve wanted to update the blog’s appearance for a while, but I haven’t had the chance too until today. To give you a good idea of what the blog now looks like, I recorded a screen video which I’ve attached below:
For anyone who is going to ask what WordPress theme I’ve used the GuCherry Blog theme and I’m loving it so far. I’ve had to play with it and I still am as I don’t want the orange detailing, but there’s not much I can do about it if I can’t. Also, the front I used for the blog name and headings of the articles is called Dancing Script. I think it’s exclusive to the internet and it doesn’t come with the operating system. You might be able to download it.
New Features
You would have noticed in the video that there a few new features. We’re going to go over them now.
MailChimp Newletter
Yes, you read that correctly! We have a newsletter now! All you need to do is to sign up. Now, there’s two boxes look the same in the sidebar. You want the second on that is labelled Mailchimp – Newsletter. If you subscribe to the newsletter, you’ll get exclusives on what I’m working on, links to the articles from the week gone by and other things. I’m not exactly sure when the first newsletter will go out but I’ll post something here when I have it ready to do. For those uncertain of what you’re looking for on the sidebar, here’s a screenshot:
Affiliate Ads And Links
Okay, so this next feature isn’t exactly new. If you’ve been on the site for sometime, you would’ve noticed ads scattered across the blog. As a blog, we need to survive and we can’t do that without funds. We’ve been with Adsense for a couple of years and while its great and all, we wanted to go a step further.
We signed up with the Commission Factory and we’ve got a load of great brands on board. The way it works is, every time you click on a link and buy something, a small amount of your purchase fee goes towards the blog while the rest goes towards the seller.
So far we’ve signed up with various cosmetics, skincare, technology, and entertainment brands. But, we’re always looking for more affiliates as there’s not many to choose from at the moment.
Trending
Okay, well this isn’t exactly a new feature, but it is to the new look. We’ve included a trending posts widget for the top five articles on the site. Not sure what you’re looking for? Here’s a screenshot:
The reason I added this was because I wanted to see what content people liked more than others. This will come in handy when I write new content. If you have any ideas for what I should write next, please comment below or click the social media icons in the sidebar to leave me a comment. I would love to know what you guys wanna see!
