Everything We (Unfortunately) Know About American Riviera Orchard – OPINION

It has only been a couple of weeks, and Meghan Markle’s new brand, American Riviera Orchard (eek!), is already flailing and struggling to grow legs. Why? Well, her Instagram following is mostly bots and has stopped growing. This is bad compared to the record she and Harry broke with Sussex Royal, which got a million followers in just under six hours. As of the writing of this post, the @americanrivieraorchard Instagram account hasn’t even reached 600k followers and its been, as I’ve said, a couple of weeks since the “soft launch”.

Anyway, what we wanted to cover in this post is everything we (unfortunately) know about American Riviera Orchard and what Meghan intends to do with it.

What Is Meghan’s American Riviera Orchard Brand?

When the Instagram account went live, no one could figure out what Meghan was doing with American Riviera Orchard. Why? The video posted to the Instagram stories (which disappear after 24 hours) showed nothing interesting. All it showed was Meghan rearranging roses, cooking in the kitchen and standing in the doorway patting one of her dogs while dressed in a halter-neck ball gown.

It wasn’t until people started looking at the recently filed trademark application did it come out what she was planning. She will peddle homewares like jelly, jam, fruit butters, and so on.

However, it has since come out, courtsey of Page Six, of that the application has been altered to include makeup and skincare products. Is she going to peddle rehashes of other people’s products? She is going to beg Kylie Jenner to give her discarded makeup from her line so she can pretend she came up with the concept? It wouldn’t surprising.

Meghan Has No Interest In Skincare Or Makeup

It’s no secret that Meghan has no interest in this stuff whatsoever and is only interested in it because she knows it will sell. Or will it? The only reason people who she is today is due to her husband. No one cared about her when she was struggling to peddle The Tig.

Meghan claims to love fashion and be an “expert” in the field, as proven by a comment by Wendy Williams who said before Markle got engaged to Harry, she wanted to be a model on her show. What does Meghan know about skincare? I know more about it than she does. I used to get relevantly bad acne. Meghan has never had a blemish in her life as far as we know. Also, this is the same woman who complained about her freckles being airbrushed out of photos when she does it herself. So much for it being a ‘pet peeve’.

When it comes to makeup, she has a makeup artist, Daniel “the crying makeup artist” Martin. Also, one of the worst make up look Meghan has ever sprouted is what she wore to the Endeavour Fund awards in 2020. I cannot find the picture now, but she had her eyes closed enough for the public to see the awful eye makeup she has on.

Yet Another CopyMeg

What is Meghan gonna do? Allow us peasants into her bathroom to watch her do makeup and skincare tutorials? There are a ton of celebrities who do this, so it’s not original. Look at Jennifer Aniston and Rihanna, both have skincare brands and have some tie to Harry.

Harry was, allegedly, infatuated with Aniston. Meanwhile, he met Rihanna in 2016 when both were involved in a charity event for AIDs and HIV in Barbados. Here’s the thing. In 2016, no one knew who Meghan was. No one, though many people knew who Rihanna was. Pon De Replay. Disturbia. Diamonds. These are some her most iconic and recognisable songs. Also, Jennifer Aniston is an acting icon. Friends. Horrible Bosses (in which Meghan had a minute cameo). Marley & Me. The Morning Show. These are just a handful of things Jennifer is known for.

There has also be allegations that Meghan is copying another Californian brand; Flamingo Estate, which is super popular with celebrities, including Oprah, who apparently loves tomato scent dish soap. The candles are endorsed by the Dalai Llama while Julianne Moore supplies the brand with her honey which costs like $200. According to the Mirror (link above), Meghan also loves their products and wanted to partner with the owner and his boyfriend after visiting them in 2022.

Oh, and Highgrove, the estate assoicated with King Charles III, has been selling jams for years and all the money goes to charity yet Vogue doesn’t appear to recognise the difference between personal profit and charity.
