Marissa Benson is a lot of things and is known by many names. Mom by her son Freddie. Grandma B or Granny by her granddaughter Millicent. Mrs B or Mrs Benson by Freddie’s friends. Rarely is her name ever used though the one person who does use it is Freddie and Carly’s arch nemesis, Lewbert Sline.
For those who either need a refresher or haven’t seen the original show, Lewbert Sline was a recurring character in the original iCarly. He was the doorman of the apartment building who caused Carly, Freddie and their friends a ton of trouble. It became so bad that Carly, Freddie and possibly Sam had a whole segment on iCarly dedicated to getting back at him.
At one point, Marissa and Lewbert were a couple. However, Mrs Benson came to hate him as much as Freddie and Carly do. In the revival, Lewbert (or Lewbie as Carly calls him) is brought back in Season 2 when he sues Carly for a million dollars for her constant harassment of him as a teenager.
Lewbert Sues Carly!
In the episode, iObject, Lewbert!, Lewbert gets revenge on Carly by taking her to court. When she, Freddie and Spencer begin struggling to present their case, they call in Marissa. She, of course, hates the former doorman as much as they do.
However, the plan backfires when Lewbert charms Marissa and starts making out with him. The relationship continues into Season 3, where they become engaged, thanks to Millicent’s push.
Jeremy Rowley, who plays Lewbert, does a fantastic job at playing the creepy aspects of Sline—especially that high, raspy voice. The voice is very velociraptor-like if you listen to it closely. The best example in the reboot is when Carly manages to get Lewbert to go off on a tirade in the courtroom after she sees him smile.
Lewbert goes crazy and lunges at Spencer before coughing in his open mouth.
The evidence he presents is a clip from the original iCarly of him being caught up in a muffin basket explosion.
Marissa Falls For Lewbert’s Charms… Again
As fun as Marissa is, she fell for Lewbert’s charms super quickly, which ended up with them making out on the courtroom floor. We know from Marissa’s plotting to get rid of Freddie’s now ex-girlfriend, Pearl, that she’s willing to do anything to get what she wants. She wanted to get Pearl on the no-fly list.
Perhaps, Marissa is attracted to super weird and creepy blokes. That’s okay. After all, Harper and Pearl fought over who would get Freddie based on their astrological readings, which matched his. Harper has zero interest in Freddie and sees him as a friend.
In conclusion, the iCarly revival Season 3 page teases that the finale has a wedding, and the only wedding we know is potentially happening is Marissa and Lewbert’s. This is yet to be officially confirmed to be happening, as anything can happen. For all we know, the wedding could be someone else’s, like Freddie and Carly’s—just our two cents.
