The Essential Guide To Royal Family Social Media Abbreviations And Codes

code

Social Media is full of code that is used for communication – When you’re blessed with only so many characters to a tweet, you’re often focused to speak in a code that people will understand. When it comes to talking about the British Royals, there are so many abbreviations and code words out there.

It’s often hard to decipher what people are saying. The inspiration for this post is that we saw a few people ask what a certain abbreviation meant. So, we thought it might be handy to create a guide for anyone new to the world of the British Royal, and are unfamiliar with the phrasing and abbreviations.

Originally, this post was only going to be about the Sussexes, but we figured it might be better to do the whole family.

Before we launch into the code and abbreviations, every point of subject is in bold. At times, the explanation will be in italics. Most of the time, it will be in regular font.

Nicknames (And Somewhat Insults)

Our first code, so to speak, is the nicknames that are seen floating around the internet. Some are common knowledge while others might not be.

  • Princess Pinocchio – An insulting moniker for Meghan Markle, given to her by a one-time friend, Piers Morgan. This insult came from the fact that Meghan is constantly twisting the truth to fit her agenda.
  • Bozo – NOT associated with the royals, but associated with the Sussexes. Nickname by Megxiteers for Sussex supporter, bot farmer and known (bankrupt) fraud, Christopher Bouzy.
  • Wills – A long-used nickname for Prince William in the press and allegedly, within the family.
  • Kate – Before she was the Duchess of Cambridge, Catherine, was known widely by the press and the world by her personal nickname, a shortened version of her first name.
  • Randy Andy – A nickname given to Prince Andrew, according to the Sun’s Tariq Tahir, after he was caught in his youth in the girls’ dormitory while at school.
  • H – A nickname Meghan gave to Harry, which she references while on tour in South Africa. Is widely used on social media to save on characters in Tweets.
  • Haz – Another nickname given to Harry by Meghan as referenced during the video chat cameo Meghan has during Harry’s conversation with James Corden.
  • MM – Meghan’s nickname before meeting Harry, according to Meghan’s Tig Talk profile.
  • Meg – An overall nickname used by people throughout Meghan’s previous lives. Is used mockingly online.
  • Boss Baby – A social media term of endearment for Prince Louis.
  • Bea – A personal nickname for Princess Beatrice, used amongst her family, especially her younger sister.
  • Fergie – the nickname of Sarah Ferguson, Duchess of York, the former wife of Prince Andrew and mother of Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie.

Royal Abbreviations/Code What They Mean

So, the second (and final) part of this code post goes over royal abbreviations and what they mean.

  • TW – This is what inspired the post. It stands for The Wife. People on social media use it when they want to talk about Meghan but don’t want to use her name or attach the Sussex Squad.
  • #6 or no6 – references Harry and his place within the line of succession.
  • PP – short for Prince Philip.
  • HMEQII or HMEQ – short for Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II or Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth.
  • HM – short for Her Majesty.
  • JCMH – short for Just Call Me Harry. This is what Harry tried to get people to call him as he told people he was just “a normal guy.”
  • DoC – short for Duke (or Duchess) of Cambridge.
  • PG – short for Prince George
  • PC – short for Prince Charles (but could be used for Princess Charlotte too)
  • PW – short for Prince William.
  • W – used by William on tweets he puts out personally.
  • C – used by Catherine on tweets she puts out personally.
  • W & C – used by William and Catherine when they issue combined tweets.
  • ILBW – used as an insult (thanks, South Park) short for Instagram Loving B**** Wife
  • HLMTQ – Her Late Majesty The Queen
  • PoW – Prince of Wales or Princess of Wales
  • PPoW – Prince and Princess of Wales
