5 Crochet Ideas For Charity

green yarn

Have you got extra yarn lying around and don’t know what to do with it? Well, that’s where this post comes in with Charity Crochet ideas. There are a ton of ideas out there, but this is just a few.

Moreover, in this short post, we will explore five ideas you can do with all that excess yarn. Furthermore, a big thank you to The Crochet Crowd for some of these ideas.

1. Beanies For Premature Babies

The first charity crochet idea you can make is beanies for premature babies. These are ideal to give to hospitals for babies born much earlier than expected.

2. Granny Squares

The beauty of granny squares is that they can be used for almost anything. We’ve even seen YouTube videos where they’ve been used to create patchwork clothing. Also, there are countless designs. Like with knitted squares, crocheted granny squares can be used in blankets. Consequently, some places, like select Australian Spotlight stores, will take any crochet squares and combine them to make blankets for charities like World Vision.

3. Scarf With Pockets

This next one is great, not just for a crochet charity gift but for anyone who loves a good scarf. Moreover, a scarf with a pocket is perfect as a warm neck hug and extra storage for glasses. Also, Pockets can be put on either end of the scarf.

4. Blankets

A big charity crochet project is the creation of blankets. These can be any sized blankets, from baby blankets to mega blankets.

5. Toys

Beyond blankets, crocheted toys are always a big need for charities, especially in hospitals for sick children. Also, in many Australian children’s hospitals, many sick kids are given a crocheted teddy bear.
