Why Hasn’t Meghan Markle Accused Hollywood Of Racism? – OPINION

If there is one thing that Omid Scobie exposed in his Endgame book, it is that Meghan Markle is racist. Yet, she has the nerve to name her father-in-law, King Charles III and her sister-in-law, Catherine Middleton, as the ‘royal racists.’ AussieChick on Twitter recently tweeted something rather interesting: how can Meghan call the British Royal Family racist when she hasn’t called Hollywood out on its racism? What can we expect from a former actress who has a lack of talent?

Hollywood racism has been around forever. Things that weren’t racist in Hollywood, like the portrayal of Asians in Siamese cats in Lady and the Tramp in the fifties, are now considered racism.

Times evolve, but Meghan Markle has never called it out, well, ever. However, she has commented on her lifestyle blog, The Tig, that she wasn’t “black enough for the black roles, and not white enough for the white roles.” Moreover, this could have been her projecting that she believes that Hollywood is racist without saying it directly.

She has done this before by implying the British Royal family is racist when it is not the case. Here’s the thing. Meghan Markle hasn’t gone into the ‘racist’ territory with Hollywood for a couple of reasons.

Firstly, Meghan Markle is still desperate to get into the Hollywood set, despite her lack of talent, limited likeability, and over forty. While it might seem ageist to make that comment, it’s true. Hollywood only allows people under 25 to succeed 90% of the time. If people have immense talent, they’ll be successful. But the former actress was never in that full Hollywood bubble.

Being in the Canadian film industry doesn’t classify as being in Hollywood. That’s like an Australian actor claiming to be in Hollywood when they’ve only been in Australian-based projects.

Just because Suits is an American show filmed in Toronto doesn’t mean it’s Hollywood. Meghan loves comparing herself to other people. One example is her friend, Abigail Spencer. Unlike Markle, Spencer has been in Hollywood. She was the female lead in the series Timeless, which was filmed in Los Angeles during its second season but was filmed in Vancouver during season one.

Also, Abigail was in the movie Chasing Mavericks with Gerard Butler, where she played his wife. She’s done a lot of projects because she is the opposite of Meghan Markle; she has talent. It has nothing to do with being one of the many biracial actresses in the industry, far from it. Yes, Hollywood needs to evolve further, but Meghan was never in the industry in the way she thinks she was. Also, her sudden desire to produce came out of nowhere.

She believes she is good at everything because she was an actress. Sorry, but it takes time to hone a new skill. Look at her Suits costars, Gabriel Macht and Patrick J. Adams. They were both producers and directors on the show. They had to learn those abilities over time. Also, Adams would later use those skills in a short film. Also, they don’t have fancy titles not recognised in the United States.

Meghan also didn’t have those high-profile contacts that she thinks she has. No one wants to work with her because she is lazy, and Hollywood is a small community. There have been stories about her being an absolute tyrant on photoshoots. Tom Bower mentions this in his book Revenge. A photographer said she was obsessed with not having her feet photographed and acted like a diva.

Hollywood has its issues, but it did not fail Meghan Markle. She failed it as she was unsuccessful in auditions and likely used the lip gloss trick, but she could still not get roles. The few roles she did get were small one-offs or walk-on roles where she says two lines in 20 seconds. Look at her role as a bartender in Remember Me and as the FedEx girl in Horrible Bosses.

Sure, it would be fine if Meghan started as a 20-year-old wannabe in the industry who ha done thorough training. All actors and actresses have roles like this before they get more extensive parts. But before Suits, this was all Markle got. She almost got a recurring role on Fringe during its second season. However, after her first episode, she was reduced to a couple of lines in episode two before she was written out entirely.

Returning to the racism in Hollywood debate and Meghan, she doesn’t call Hollywood out because she wants to be part of the sphere. In her mind, she thinks the A-listers wish to be around her. However, her reputation before she became ‘the Duchess of Sussex’ would have trickled down, and people would’ve been professional yet wary. With everything going on now with Endgame, Spare and the Netflix drama, it’s no wonder she isn’t giving up. Meghan could call everyone in Hollywood racist for not allowing her into their inner sanctum.

Hollywood also doesn’t like it when people spill about their personal lives. Look at what Meghan did during the Netflix series. She openly ‘read’ a text from Beyoncé, a notoriously private person. Allegedly, her reps had to deny sending Meghan any text. Also, A-listers want royalty to see their projects, so many side with the British Royal family. Taylor Swift is friends with Prince William, having done a charity event with him and Jon Bon Jovi in 2013.

Also, she would’ve performed at the coronation concert if she could, but she was in the middle of her Eras tour. Omid Scobie claimed she “snubbed” the event in his Endgame book. Moreover, royal watchers and her devoted fanbase, the Swifties, refuted this. Taylor is not a stupid woman. She refused Meghan’s personalised note to appear on her Archetypes podcast and wasn’t about to become of Markle’s ‘I hate royals’ campaign.

In conclusion, Meghan didn’t use the racism card in Hollywood to the same extent as the royal racists drama with Charles and Catherine due to her desire to be a power player. If she calls them racists, she loses a chance of partnerships. However, studio bigwigs are more intelligent than that.
