Star Wars fans will know the history of Princess Leia Organa of Alderaan. Born on Polis Massa in 19BBY, born Leia Amidala Skywalker was the daughter and youngest child of Senator Padmé Amidala and the fallen Jedi Knight Anakin Skywalker. Her older brother and twin Luke Skywalker was born a few minutes before her. After her mother’s death, Leia was adopted by Bail Organa and his wife, Queen Breha Organa. Upon her marriage to Han Solo, she became Leia Skywalker Organa Solo.
There have been multiple actresses to play the rebellious royal over the years. Who are these ladies? That is what we’re here to talk about. This post will only discuss the actresses who have played Leia in canon material.
Which Actresses Have Played Princess Leia?
Carrie Fisher originated the role of Princess Leia. She portrayed the character in five films; A New Hope. The Empire Strikes Back. Return of the Jedi. The Force Awakens and The Last Jedi. Unused footage from the Force Awakens was used with the permission of the Fisher family for the Rise of Skywalker to include Leia in the story, despite Carrie’s death. Carrie’s daughter, Billie Lourd, was a body double for flashbacks to young Leia and shots where the audience sees the character’s back. In addition, archival audio was used for the animated series Star Wars Rebels and for the cameo at the end of Rogue One.
Shelby Young voices the character in several animated projects, including Star Wars Rebels and Forces of Destiny.
Aiden Barton, the then-infant son of one of the crew members who worked on Revenge of the Sith, played both the Skywalker twins when given to their respective adoptive families.
Ingvild Deila portrayed the princess at the end of Rogue One. Fisher signed off for her likeness to be used.
Finally, we have Vivien Lyra Blair. She played the character aged ten in the limited series Obi-Wan Kenobi.

A fun fact we have is that Catherine Taber, who voices Padmé Amidala, the biological mother of the Skywalker twins, in Clone Wars media, also voices the character’s daughter in The Force Unleashed games. These videogames are now Legends.
