Who Is Ezra Bridger In Star Wars?

Lightsaber, Ezra, Star Wars, Bridger

Ezra Bridger is making his live-action debut in Ahsoka. This will bring most of the Ghost crew to real life, but before that happens, we must talk about who this cheeky chappy is in the Star Wars universe. First introduced in Star Wars Rebels, Ezra is the sixth member of the Ghost crew, a band of rebels fighting against the Empire.

In the final episode of the series, Bridger is spirited away by the purgil, the space whales that inspired hyperspace, along with Grand Admiral Thrawn. This post will flesh out the basic facts about Ezra.

Empire Day Baby And Street Rat

Ezra Bridger was born to Ephraim and Mira Bridger on Lothal when Sheev Palpatine declared the Galactic Empire would rule in place of the Republic. Being born on this day was always a sore spot for Ezra, who refused to acknowledge it. Then, when he was seven, his parents were taken by the Empire, never to be seen again.

After his parents were taken, Ezra was forced to fend for himself and grew up on the streets of Lothal. He had to learn to adapt quickly, though little did he realise his skills were advanced through the Force. He was also friendly with the locals who detested the Empire as much as his parents had.

Ezra Meets The Ghost Crew

One day when he attempts to steal a crate of blasters, Ezra runs into a teenage Mandalorian (Sabine), a Lasat (Zeb) and a man (Kanan) who also wants the blasters. After several mishaps, he agrees to help them and joins them after Jarrus explains he’s Force Sensitive.

Bridger is reluctant but does so, gaining a new family in the process. He annoys Zeb initially, but the pair are quick to become friends after Hera, the group’s pilot, sends terms out on a mission together. They also bond over their common enemy, the astromech droid, Chopper.

Also, he attempts to flirt with Sabine, but this eventually flatlines, and she becomes like a big sister to him.

Many Adventures

Ezra would go on many adventures with the Ghost crew while he was with them. He would apprentice under Kanan as a Jedi and learn how to fly from Hera. He would also learn to shoot from Sabine.

Bridger learns the true fate of his parents, and he’s devastated though he leans on his friends for support. He is also dealt the blow of losing Ahsoka and Kanan. However, he saves Ahsoka by pulling her into the World Between Worlds. Letting go of his Jedi mentor is so much more challenging, but he soon accepts that this is what Jarrus would want for him.

Like many Jedi before him, Ezra had a special Force talent. His was a connection to the animals around him.

Ezra disappears into the Unknown Regions with Grand Admiral Thrawn.
