He’s the youngest ninja turtle. Michelangelo, better known as Mikey to his family and friends, is the only one of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles that doesn’t have a dark side in the earlier comics. However, we know he has a dark side during the Last Ronin storyline.
As the youngest of Master Splinter’s sons, Mikey is well-known to be the adorable one who loves skateboarding and pizza. He is also the peacemaker in some versions of TMNT media. The wearer of the orange bandanna, Michelangelo displays a keen sense of honour in the same manner as his brothers. However, unlike Leo is not unserious. Unlike Raph, he is not angry. Unlike Donnie, he’s… kind of not all there a lot of the time. Not to say he’s not dumb, but he doesn’t use his brain a lot.
Mikey is the one who may need to be watched more than the others, but he has a big heart. He loves his family, and while he clashes with his brothers, they realise too often that he is the baby who can do some amazing feats with his nunchucks.
Any fan of the 2012 series will remember that Michelangelo was usually the one who was bringing home stray pets or making strange new friends. Remember when he was the only one able to calm down Leatherhead? What about the time he met Mondo Gecko? Or when he made the giant mistake of befriending Chris Bradford, who used him to get close to the turtles and didn’t care?
Mikey might be a tad naive at times, but his heart is always in the right place, and no one can deny that.
