Wakanda Television Series To Feature Okoye

Okoye

You don’t mess with Okoye.

We’re about to learn a bit more about our favourite Dora Milaje general, Okoye, in the upcoming Disney+ series centred around Wakanda, according to Deadline. While the show does not have a title, it will centre around the fictional African nation ruled by King T’Challa, RIP Chadwick Boseman.

Danai Gurira will return to her role of Okoye, though it’s unclear currently as to what capacity the character will play. After all, it has been speculated that she will have a larger role in the upcoming Black Panther: Wakanda Forever film. Will she take on the role of the titular Black Panther? We don’t think so, as the role is generally reserved for those of royal birth.

Princess Shuri, The New Black Panther

Depending on what they decide, the title of the Black Panther will likely go to Princess Shuri. Also, T’Challa has no children to succeed him that we know of. So the logical choice is his little sister, who will be of age by the time of the film’s events.

Returning to the Wakanda series, it wouldn’t surprise us if Okoye had a small cameo or is the lead. Ayo had a cameo during The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. Who the show will focus on is up for debate. But it could be an anthology like What If…? will be. We’ll have to wait and see what is going to happen. There’s no current information as to what the show will be about. There’s not even a release date at the moment. Nor has it been placed within the fourth or fifth phase of the franchise.

In Conclusion

When we have more information, we will be sharing it. This is a show we’re looking forward to as we’re massive fans of Black Panther. However, the show was not mentioned at the San Diego Comic-Con 2022’s MCU presentation. Though, it might be referenced at D23 as one of the projects that will slot into Phase 6.
