Is Scientology Being Used As A Shield To Criminal Activity?

Scientology, crimes

It is no secret that Scientology is a very shady organisation. Some would say it is a cult. It is also well-known for its celebrity followers. Tom Cruise is poised to be the next David Miscavige. John Travolta is a prominent member. As is the late Kirstie Alley. Even Priscilla Prestley and her late daughter, Lisa Marie, were members years ago and later quit. Former member Leah Remini has spoken out about the church and has even been exposing the crimes it has committed over the years.

Ms Remini has accused Scientology of the following:

  • Stalking
  • Harassment
  • Psychological Torture
  • Operating a smear campaign to ruin her

Leah has also sued the church and its leader, David Miscavige. She has also asked where her longtime friend and the “Queen of Scientology,” Shelly Miscavige, disappeared in August 2007. In 2013, Remini filed a missing persons report. The report was later said to be “unfounded.” Another report that was supposed to be filed was never submitted by Lawrence Wright, an author who has written about the cult practices and the relationships some celebrity clients have with the religion.

Now, let’s go over why we’re here: the crimes various members have committed that have gone unpunished.

Did Scientology Protect Danny Masterson?

Danny Masterson is a Scientologist. As is his “estranged” wife, Bijou Phillips. His crimes have gone under the radar for too long. Researching some of the PR tactics that the church uses shows that since at least the 1960s, they pushed back over criticism against the organisation, which the founding father of the religion, L. Ron Hubbard, enforced.

According to an article by Rolling Stone, Masterson’s alleged victims, who were part of Scientology, said that the church shielded him. This is not necessarily a surprise, as the women who accused the actor of assaulting them brought up religion on multiple occasions during the trial.

The judge, Charlaine Olmedo, gave the prosecution a chance to look deeper into the church’s practices so they could include the evidence they found in the case.

The Attacks On Paulette Cooper

Moreover, if one looks deeper into the critics of Scientology, it becomes that they will do anything to conceal the crimes of their devoted followers. For example, Paulette Cooper, a journalist, was framed by the church’s Guardianship office for a felony she never committed. It is also believed that L. Ron Hubbard was obsessed with her and spent much time trying to ruin her.

The plan was to get her admitted to a psychiatric hospital. They even attempted to frame her for other crimes. The war between Scientology and Paulette went on for years. There is too much to talk about in this article.

It’s “Illegal” Within Scientology To Report Another Scientologist Without Permission

According to the already linked Rolling Stone article, a former Scientology official, Claire Headley, testified during the Masterson trial that the only way to report another Scientologist is by going through the International Justice Chief for approval.

From Ms Headley’s testimony, it’s clear that crimes will be covered up, no matter how serious. Earlier in the piece, it is said that one of the victims was told by a so-called “Master-At-Arms” not to use the word “rape” to describe what had been done to her. What else would unconsented sex be called?

Also, it would be interesting if someone came out with how high in the organisation Masterson and his family are. His siblings are all within the church. the Rolling Stone piece also says that he was under what is referred to as “ethics protection.”

Are Celebrity Crimes Protected?

To end this post, we must ask if any celebrity within Scientology is protected if they commit serious crimes. It would appear that, yes, they are. The organisation is so controlling that it doesn’t want any stain on its “reputation.” The accusations that former members from over the years have called it out enough that enough stories have been put out in the public domain so the public can decide.
